Just being ridiculous. But here's why they do it:

Minnesota: This gives them a lot more depth and defensive versatility, and I think simplifies the error they made with the big situation. You aren't getting off that Gobert contract, so this allows them to recoup some first rounds picks and provides two solid role players that have a good track record of defense and three point shooting.

You could run out a line up of: FVV, Russell, Edwards, OG, and Gobert, with good depth on bench.

Toronto: They retool with Towns as their clearly defined co-star with Siakam. This makes the positions more clearly defined in the starting rotation, and allows them to run out 6'5 or taller at every position. McLaughlin is just a replacement in guard depth.

You could run out a line up of: Barnes, GTJ, Achiuwa, Pascal, and Towns.
