Why each team does it:

PHI: After this move, Philly is left with a Brogdon-CJ-Matisse-RoCo-Embiid starting lineup, with Maxey-Seth-Green-Warren-Drummond off the bench. The addition of Brogdon and CJ solves their biggest issue (shot creation) and RoCo + Warren serve as great shooting forwards to patch the missing Tobias production. The chances of RoCo re-signing seem high as a former Sixer fan favorite, and bird rights on him + Warren in a summer with little projected cap space should lead to an easier time retaining both forwards.

POR: Blazers end up with a starting lineup of Dame-Norm-Tobias-Grant-Nurkic. CJ’s already questionable fit next to Dame was under more scrutiny with Norm providing the same skillset (albeit, not at the same level) at a cheaper price tag. Using CJ + RoCo to grab two all-star caliber forwards, patching a position of need, seems like a good move. Both good defenders, Grant also provides weakside rim protection, something Portland has been missing.

DET: The Pistons get quite a haul to help kickstart their rebuild around Cade. After seeing Vucevic go for WCJ and 2 1sts (+ salary filler), Detroit couldn’t ask for better than this. Jaden McDaniels is a potential future All-Defense member and extremely mobile defensive forward. Jaden Springer is one of the youngest rookies this year, and one of the most physically ready guards to make the jump to the NBA. A likely late-lotto/mid-1st pick from the Wolves is the icing on top.

IND: Indiana gets a HAUL for Brogdon and Warren, who is apparently having issues recovering from a foot injury. Pacers are likely still a play-in team after this move, with Beasley providing a large chunk of their perimeter scoring. Shake Milton is an average young prospect who has a real shot at securing a long career in the league. But the real value here is 3 1st round picks, including two from the Wolves, which are usually worth their weight in Gold.

MIN: Minnesota’s new management (Gupta) is reportedly determined to land Simmons. Any package that lets them keep a D’Lo-Ant-Simmons-KAT core will likely give this franchise a play-in run and set them up for long term success. An added benefit is the close friendship between Simmons and KAT, which should help to keep the incredibly talent center happy and in Minnesota.
