I'm new on here so don't grill me to much haha, but I think I'm onto something...
NOTE: This trade would work at the deadline
TIMBERWOLVES: For the wolves, the KAT trade was not for Randle. In my opinion, it was to add DiVincenzo, collect assets and add better fits around Ant while keeping future flexibility in mind. The Wolves need more players at each position to better round out the roster. By adding Malcolm Brogdon, the Wolves have another answer at PG with someone who can score, defend and facilitate at a good level and can fit next to Ant well. While he is on an expiring deal, I would expect him to stay as the wolves are actively chasing a ring and he is approaching the later years of his career. He would stay for about $10-$15 million a year for 3-4 years as he is slightly older and has had previous injury issues. This price (in my opinion!!) feels appropriate for someone of his calibre. Some might question why to add another PG when Dillingham is also an option. Well, Coach Finch has not played him that much this season, I believe he would feel comfortable with another experienced PG alongside Conley, rather than relying on a rookie to do the heavy lifting so early. Brogdon is still quite good and would be a great medium-term Mike Conley replacement once he retires. As for Saddiq Bey, he is an interesting piece. Bey should come back a little bit before the playoffs as he is rehabbing from his ACL injury in March. The Wolves have been crying out for another wing/forward off the bench who has a scoring punch for some time now and he would be a good fit for the Wolves. Furthermore, he’s under a team-friendly contract for multiple years and would perfectly fit the Ant timeline. Again, you could question it by asking why to add him when there are other young guys (Josh Minott and Leonard Miller) who have been itching at the opportunity to play. Simply put, even though Bey has been injured, he's a more proven player and could add real explosiveness the Wolves have been looking for. If the Wolves plan on starting Naz Reid (which they eventually will), Jay Huff would be the perfect big man to sit behind Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid. Huff is 7'1 and can block shots and shoot 3's, can't get much better than that. Ultimately, with his extremely team-friendly contract and skillset, he could play alongside both Gobert and Reid, which the Wolves would need if they plan on trading another frontcourt player away.
GRIZZLIES: For the Grizzlies, at some point, I feel that they need to make a noticeable/big move that can improve their team without giving up their main core of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr and Desmond Bane or multiple first-round picks, even though they have gotten off to an awesome start this season. Ultimately, they can't add a max player to their team without giving up a core piece with how their financial situation is looking, so why not add Randle? Some people might roll their eyes, but I genuinely think it makes sense financially and in terms of on the court. Financially speaking, he would realistically sign for about $30 million on average, which is about what he's worth (and fits within their salary cap). For the basketball fit, he would be the fourth-best player on the team and would not carry as much responsibility, simplifying his game and can run a second unit better than most. More importantly, JJJ and Randle would make a great frontcourt pairing. JJJ (in my estimation) has 80%-90% of the rim protection Gobert has, except he's a 20 ppg scorer who shoots 3's and spaces the floor well, allowing Randle to post up and kick out to open shooters (no pun intended lol) more effectively than he even has in NY or Minnesota. PBJ is also in the trade as a throw in. To summarise this part, I genuinely feel like the Grizzlies would come away from this trade well, adding a 20-10-5 guy without giving up much in picks or players would be a great result. Nearly forgot, Randle's gritty play style would fit Memphis' culture and identity like a glove, and he would be appreciated for that.
WIZARDS: Finally, not much to say about the Wizards to be honest, there only here for salary purposes and to eventually trade more players for future picks, can't really go wrong here. Marcus Smart and Brandon Clarke would be useful on contending teams and could net the Wizards something useful in return.
PICKS: Not many picks are being traded in this instance. Minnesota would want some type of pick from the Grizzlies as they are getting the best player in the trade, a 2027 frp would be appropriate.
Finally, the Wizards would want a few seconds to take on more money this year and future money, so 2 srp's (one from the wolves and one from the grizzlies) would get it done.
If you've made it to the end, you're a legend, thank you!!
Have a great day :)
