Trade:
Warriors Receive: Josh Green & Marvin Bagley
Wizards Receive: Andrew Wiggins & 2029 Srp
Hornets Receive: Richaun Holmes & 2026 Frp Protected. 8
Warriors Reasoning:
With an undefeated preseason the Warriors are looking a lot better than last season. Epically after going 3 - 1 since the start of the season. However, with the massive 12 man rotation that Steve Kerr is ruining (which I ran in 2k first btw) has provided some issues. Players like Jonathan Kuminga who were expected to take a huge leap coming to the season have had their performance stagnated under this system. Of course it is quite early to judge, but his usage and role in this Warriors squad has decreased. And he is not the only one. Moses Moody was also expected to play more but there has been no increase in his playing time. Brandin Podziemski was expected to get more touches more usage and much much more minutes but there has been minimal change since Klay's depataure. Sure things are going well for them now but how long can they keep this up for. How long until they until things fall apart and they begin to lose again. Josh Green and Marvin Bagley are no superstar players. Infact their low level role players, but that's exactly what this Warriors squad needs. The time for Big 3's is over. A new era has begun. To fully embrace their 12 man rotation, Kerr trades away Wiggins. Why? Cause' he is addicted to forcing Wiggins more minutes than he really needs. Having the second most minutes in the squad. Wiggins has played quite well in his minutes so far averaging 19-6-2 on over 50% Fg and 3pt percentage which is pretty good but it is taking away crucial minutes from youngsters like Kuminga and Mooses Moody who both play the same position as him, and by adding Josh Green they get a player not as good as Wiggins but a better long term solution as he is only 23 compared to a nearly 30 Year old Andrew Wiggins. They also gain Marvin Bagley, the second pick in the 2018 draft class who to be fair hasn't been as good as he was hyped up to eb but he has been a great player for the Wizards averaged 13-8-1 for them last season and providing a lot on help on the defensive end. An important thing to note about Andrew Wiggins is that his game depends a lot on his mental state. If he is doing well mentally he will mostly do well on court, but if something happens it is safe to assume that his game will suffer. Wiggins contract is horrendous as well having 85M left over 3 years. To offload him you must give draft capital and they are lucky that perhaps only a protected Frp and a second may work for them. Last season he averaged 13-4-1 while playing almost all 82 games. He performed horribly and at times seemed as Golden State's worst player. People blame Klay and make fun of his 0-10 performance in the elimination game but they forget about Andrew Wiggins terrible defensive performance and 4-11 Fg. If there is one thing you need to know about Curry, it's that he needs a elite 3&D Wing to Perform. If you look at all his rings he had Klay,Kd and Wiggins but as previously mentioned he is no longer All Star Starter Andrew Wiggins, no. Infact he is nothing more than a role player now and will not be the starting Sf for GSW. It is time for them to find a trade and personally this is it. Cash out on Andrew while you can and bring in a younger brighter replacement with a much needed big. Small ball will not work anymore when the nba is dominated by unicorns like Wemby, Jokic and Embiid. Marvin Bagley is no Embiid, but for sure he is 10x better than having 6'5 Draymond as your Center. And getting Josh Green to play alongside Moody and Kuminga who all have elite 3&D potenial to help Curry. Time is running out for the Warriors but is it better to push for one ring, or build for another ten.
Wizards Reasoning:
Shit! What's the first word that comes to your mind when you hear the Wizards. The recent years haven't been nice to Washington but that is all about to change. They get rid of two heavily overpaid centers and bring in Andrew Wiggins. Doesn't really sound as much of an upgrade but trust me it is. Their squad is a bunch of youth players who have no one to really guide them. Bilal Coulibaly, Kyshawn George, Patrick Baldwin Jr., Bub Carrington and Saddiq Bey all are young talented players with Kyle Fucking Kuzma as their mentor. Lemme repeat that, KYLE KUZMA as their mentor. I mean sure he has stepped his game up but you can't really expect him to lead the team, guide the youth when the man himself refuses to leave Washington since he is scared to play in a team trying to win. He has literally admitted his selfishness in wanting to be the no 1. option as his only reason to be in Washington. I promise you, no matter how delusional you are nobody can tell me that they believe Kuzma will lead this team to even the playoffs. However Andrew Wiggins, a man with persistent failure in his career knows what struggle is and knows how to overcome it. Despite all the pressure, labels and accusations put on him he has managed to overcome them time and time again to lead himself to the ultimate glory, NBA CHAMPION! Now the time has come for him to find a team to mentor, and a city to settle down in. Washington know he isnt who he used to be but they also know is they don't need All Star Starter Andrew Wiggins, they need Andrew Wiggins the motivated veteran. They were blessed with the 2024 draft's 2nd pick and had brought in Alex Sarr, who is a high potential center from the nbl and they signed Jonas Valanciunas to mentor him so they no longer have a need for these 2 bums in Marvin Bagley and Richaun Holmes. Getting them out the team for a veteran and draft capital is a huge win considering they are rebuilding. Wiggins has won before, but this time he is not brought in to win. He is brought in to create winners.
Hornets Reasoning: Is Josh Green needed? Of course he is a great player but in every game he has featured in with the Hornet's he just seems out of place. I mean when you have Brandon Miller, Keyontae Johnson, Keyontae Johnson, Cody Martin, Grant Williams and Tidjane Salaun it ain't gonna be long until he falls down the pecking order and becomes dead money. This is the perfect opportunity for them to get rid of him and still bring in some value. Sports Illustrated mentioned him as the worst off season move. This error could be fixed if they manage to get a protected first which could very well convey as a late lottery pick for him. In return they get a expiring contract in Richaun Holmes who will be bought out giving them long term cap flexibilty.
Conclusion:
This trade feels like a game of NBA Tinder everyone's swiping right to find their perfect match. The Warriors are ditching Andrew Wiggins, hoping Josh Green and Marvin Bagley can bring some youthful energy to their lineup. Meanwhile, the Wizards are bringing in Wiggins to mentor their young players, because, let’s face it, Kyle Kuzma isn’t exactly the Yoda they need. And the Hornets? They're sending Josh Green for a protected first-round pick, treating it like a clearance sale—"Get him out before he becomes a total bust!" In the end, each team is making calculated risks in hopes of finding that one wifey material girl. Whether they hit the jackpot or end up swiping left on their decisions, only time will tell.
