So it’s just a regular Thursday morning right. I wake up like 10:00, go to the park at like 2:00 to get some shots up, and when I check Shams’ Twitter I see that the Blazers signed DAMIAN LILLARD. Three years, 42 million, and a no-trade clause.
As far as how I’m feeling right now, I’m ecstatic. I literally cried in September of 2023 when Dame got traded to Milwaukee, and now he’s back.
Going slightly off-topic, Jrue Holiday I hate you. It has nothing to do with you as a person or a player, but the amount of dispair you’ve caused me over the past two years is something I will not forget.
As far as roster construction goes, this signing makes no sense. Yes I’m happy to have Dame back, but what are we going to do with Dame, Jrue, Scoot, and Sharpe in the backcourt?? I feel like this means a Scoot/Jrue trade is bound to happen, but I don’t know what teams really want Scoot/Jrue.
I’m really just happy Dame is back though :)…

Suns do this trade to get more financial-maneuverability over the next 5 years, as well as obtaining two first round picks that could end up being valueable. Keldon Johnson would also be a good addition to help with their foward depth.
Spurs do this trade in an attempt to win now. They missed out on an opportunity to acquire Kevin Durant, so acquiring his former teammate could be the next best move.
Suns lineup after trade:
Fox, Green, Beal, Dunn, Williams
Morris, Allen, Brooks, Richards, Maluach
Spurs lineup after trade:
Booker, Castle, Barnes, Sochan, Wemby
Harper, Vassell, Bryant, Johnson, Kornet…

Rockets do this trade to become stronger contenders in the West, and to get a consistent 3&D point guard who can play nicely with guys like KD, Amen, Sengun, etc. They also acquire backup guard play (Keon Johnson)
Nets do this trade to acquire second round picks, get rid of Terrance Mann’s contract, and to bring in a vet PG (Fred Vanvleet), as well as bringing back Dorian Finney-Smith.
Blazers do this trade to get off of Jrue Holiday’s contract, as well as acquiring a first round pick. They also free up guard space to give Scoot and Sharpe more playing time.
Rockets lineup after trade:
Holiday, Amen, KD, Smith Jr, Sengun
Sheppard, Johnson, Tate, Eason, Capela
Nets lineup after trade:
VanVleet, Thomas, Porter Jr, Sharpe, Claxton
Traore, Williams, Demin, Clowney, Wolf
Blazers lineup after trade:
Scoot, Sharpe, Camara, Avdija, Clingan
Banton, Thybulle, Grant, Williams, Yang…

Im considering anyone under the age of 23 a part of their team’s “young core”
This ranking is going to be based on both a mixture of current success of the players and their potential. For example, a guy like Keegan Murray might be better than a guy like Cam Whitmore, but Cam Whitmore has more potential so it evens out in a way. Hope you get it.
San Antonio Spurs (Carter Bryant, Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle, Victor Wembanyama, Harrison Ingram, Jeremy Sochan)
Orlando Magic (Jase Richardson, Noah Penda, Anthony Black, Jett Howard, Paolo Banchero, Caleb Houstan, Franz Wagner)
Houston Rockets (Reed Sheppard, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr, Amen Thompson, N’Faly Dante)
Detroit Pistons (Ron Holland II, Jalen Duren, Bobi Klintman, Ausar Thompson, Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey)
Minnesota Timberwolves (Joan Beringer, Rocco Zikarsky, Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller, Jaylen Clark, Anthony Edwards)
Oklahoma City Thunder (Thomas Sorber, Nikola Topic, Cason Wallace, Ousmane Dieng, Chet Holmgren…

Devin Booker has been an established scorer for many years and led the Suns to the finals.
Anthony Edwards is the rising Superstar, bumping legends out of the Playoffs.
Donovan Mitchell is the high-caliber scorer commanding the 68 win Cavaliers.

If the Thunder (up 3-1) and the Pacers (up 2-1) advance to the NBA finals, both of the teams in the finals will be the after-product of trading Paul George.
In 2017, the Indiana Pacers traded Paul George for Domantas Sabonis and Victor Oladipo. Domantas Sabonis was traded for Tyrese Haliburton, the Pacers’ franchise player, and Victor Oladipo was flipped multiple times, eventually resulting in the Pacers acquiring Andrew Nembhard. Both of these players are major parts of the Pacers core which is on its way to potentially make the NBA finals.
Subsequently, in 2019 the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Paul George for Sophomore year Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, as well as a multitude of first-round picks, one of them resulting in Jalen Williams.
At the time, these both seemed like fair exchanges for Paul George. The Thunder had some very good years with Paul George after trading for him, including him finishing third in MVP voting. The Clippers also weren’t unwise to trade for Paul George. At…

Hawks do this trade to move toward a younger core. They take on CJ’s expiring contract to make the money match and get the 7th pick in the draft. They likely draft Khaman Maluach.
Pelicans do this trade to move towards contending. Add center depth and get an established point guard who would have great chemistry with Zion.
Hawks lineup after trade:
Dyson, TM3, Risacher, Johnson, Maluach McCollum, LeVert, Mann, Nance Jr, Capela
Pelicans lineup after trade:
Young, Murray, Herb, Zion, Okongwu Alvarado, Boston, Hawkins, Olynyk, Missi…
