They leverage Ingram's contract to get some players for the future, avoiding a rebuild. The downside would be if this leads to them winning a considerable number of games this season, hurting their draft pick.

The pistons add a shooter to cover for Ivey's absence. Ivey is likely to be out to start next season, and they can afford to have CJ's contract on the books for a season and a half.

The Lakers add a playmaker at the expense of future draft …
