Another dude who can just put the ball in the basket. That is maybe the only good thing he can do. He can score score score, and that makes him a top 3 scorer in the class from basically everywhere on the court. He has a nice frame as well. However his passing, defense, and shot selection could use some work. I really like him as a sixth man, only meant to put the ball in the basket. Shouldnt be a starter, will get picked on for sure. However, I am a sucker for work ethic, and this guy has it. I could see him being a secondary option on a good team if his defense picks up. Expect him to move up or down as my philosophy solidifies.

Comparison: Lou Williams

Ceiling: Bradley Beal lite Floor: Dion Waiters, but not his peak

Cameron Thomas is flat-out one of the best, if not the best scorers in this draft. He led all freshman in scoring and can really shoot (with deep range), draw fouls and knock foul shots down efficiently, and hits tough shots with ease. While he has to get his efficiency ironed out, this dude''s scoring potential is appealing. While he''s not known for an all-around game, he improved defensively for LSU, creating some optimism for him to hold up on that end. Has pure scoring instincts and confidence, and also isn't a bad on ball defender. Should be a nice weapon on a contending team that doesn't give him the green light and doesn't let him produce bad habits.

Projected draft range: Lottery to 30

22+ ppg, 42/31/90 7+ 3PA. Crafty finisher and relentless when attacking - 7+ FTA. Shot looks really nice for a midseason freshman, high telephone booth release. Looks to be an NBA offensive talent. Bounce rhythm shooter.

Cameron Thomas is a position tweener and has defensive concerns, but he is one of the best natural buckets getters in the draft. He never ever passes.

Thomas has been called a "second rounder" a lot. He has great size and decent shooting. He averaged around 23.0 and call him a second rounder. Man, fuck them critics calling a player who has potential a second rounder.

Positives

-Just a natural scorer in every sense of the word, very talented shot creator, uses his physicality and spinmoves/hesitations to get to his spot, arguably the best tough shot taker and maker in the draft, stepback going left, jab-step pull-up jumper over the defender and turnaround were his favorite moves, can make any shot on the floor, excels in transition

-High upside as a shooter, mostly shoots off the hop, only 32% but shot it well off the catch and had 88% from the line, potential to be a movement shooter, hit some pull-ups in the PnR which is a dangerous weapon, has DEEP range that should easily translate to the league, never loses confidence in his shot

-Smooth midrange game, can make the shots through contact, hang in the air, a real late shotclock option, lets the defender jump first before shooting

-Has an interesting runner when he gets into the paint, good finisher with a head of steam, deep bag of tricks to get to the line which he did 7.6 times a game, foul drawing will be a big factor for a scoring player like this

Negatives

-Had some really bad shot selection, took some head scratching shots early in the shotclock or highly contested, has a scorer's mind but needs to be a bit more aware on the court if he wants to have a real role in the league

-Wasn't great around the basket, had some struggles getting there, subpar first step and vertical lift, settled for a bunch of floaters, also isn't great with his left hand, weak finisher in the halfcourt

-Definitely not a playmaker right now, he either doesn't have the vision or wasn't a willing passer, has to make at least the basic reads to be a microwave scorer off the bench people see him as

-Felt like he didn't really put effort in on defense, was often caught straight-legged or ball watching, closeouts and gambles were also trouble, lets players easily blow by him 1 on 1, does have solid physical tools but needs to try more on this end

Likely range: 16-30

Cameron Thomas is a flat out scoring machine. Some call him a one trick pony. In that regard, his critics may or may not be right. If they are, he could at worst be MarShon Brooks. At best though, he is as smooth a scorer as they get and he may develop into something even more. He already possesses a great step back jumper and a good one on one ability to get a nice shot off with his quick release or at least draw a foul. He is still a younger prospect too. He did make the All-SEC 1st Team and the All-freshman SEC Team. Cam Thomas really helped a big part in LSU getting to the tournament all year long, but in his final game in the big dance this year, he did go out with a bang, finishing with 30 PTS, 3 REB, 1 BLK, and 1 STL making some tough shots in the game. He could work on his passing in his game to make it better rounded.

Thomas is the kind of player that absolutely passes all sorts of eye tests, then you take a look at his FG% and suddenly you start to doubt your eye test. Still- there''s something to be said for that eye test and there''s something to be said about a player who''s leading the SEC in points, and leading his relatively lackluster team to a solid winning record. Thomas reminds me a bit of a Monta Ellis, a little undersized 2 guard with a lot of confidence and desire to take and make lots of tough shots. He''s got a lot of confidence on both stepbacks and towards attacking the rim. If he can find a way to be more disciplined and look for higher percentage shots, Thomas could be a real steal in the late lottery or shortly after for a team willing to take a shot on a potential dud.

Comp: Montae Ellis
