START OF TIER 9

Todd is a super hit or miss guy that I think needs to land in the right system. He needs a good coach, and not one that expects him to constantly be running the pick and roll. He is a great shooter, with buttery touch from everywhere on the floor. However, the rest of his offense isnt there, and his defense is super raw as well. I’m hoping this guy goes to the Raptors.

Comparison: Mike Muscala

Ceiling: Dwayne Dedmon TO THE MAX

Floor: Juancho Hernangomez lite

We haven''t seen Todd as much as the other prospects, but he sowed soft touch from all three levels in the G League Bubble. He will likely have to add to his frame to defend interior bigs, but I like his offensive game for the long-term. Getting experience from the G League always helps your draft stock, playing against NBA talent. I don't trust the defense yet, especially if teams ask him to move to center to play more smaller and more switchable, as he may be physically overpowered, which gives him less potential to play C in the NBA.

Projected draft range: 35-55

6''10 with a 7''0 wingspan. Seems like a C&S killer early on and understands that. Loves the elbows. Very well spoken kid with the right attitude. Fluid and put together athlete who has the attitude to make huge growth early. Middy and turnarounds are already in full growth. Enjoys the right side of the court. Brings energy on the offensive glass, wants to get better there. Finds the open man inside while attacking and this is a part of his game that could really shine down the road. Energy, size, length and movement lends itself really well to closeouts and off ball defense. There is reason to believe he will be able to protect the rim. P&R D will not be a problem because he is such a fluid athlete. This kid truly has two way potential.

Positives

-Fluid athlete at 6'10, moves like a wing, has solid handles for his size, mostly moves his feet well

-Good shooting prospect, a bit inconsistent for now but has a good form, Ignite ran actions for him to get a good look, potential as a screener in the pick and pop

-Nice passer, mostly from the post which he won't do much, but it looks like he has good upside in the short roll, however he doesn't look to create for others that much

Negatives

-His shot selection was bad in the G League, he took some early clock contested jumpers that really shouldn't be there, should cut out some long 2s, shoots them too much

-Lacks weight, reflected when guarding true 5s and in his finishing numbers

-Question on his defensive ability in the league, a bit too slow to guard smaller, quicker 4s, but not much of a rim protector or strong post presence to guard 5s

Likely range: 25-40

Isaiah Todd is a bit frail and could use work on his shooting consistency. He has nice athleticism and he''s long. He could rise in this draft if he plays well in the G-League. That appears to be a big IF so far though.

Floor spacer who can make plays off the bounce but needs to find himself on defense and gain basketball IQ.

PLUSES

Strong at-rim finisher with touch and the bounce to dunk in traffic.

Good shooter off the catch who can hit from a standstill or fluidly move into his shot in action.

Isolation scoring potential with his ability to drain turnaround jumpers. If he extends his range to 3, he could become a go-to scoring threat.

Willing passer who displays the vision to deliver a variety of passes out of the post and the roll.

With his mobility and athleticism, he has excellent defensive potential if he bulks up and improves his effort.

MINUSES

Shot selection. He settles for contested midrange jumpers when he should pass.

Prefers to play on the perimeter and doesn’t make much of an impact rebounding the ball or protecting the basket.

Lacks toughness defending on the interior. Bigs plow through him underneath the basket.

Player Comp= Chris Bosh, Michael Beasley

Isaiah Todd decided not to go to the NCAA and went to the G-league before he took his talents to the NBA. He played well in the G-league averaging 12 points and shot a very good 36% from 3 point range. Todd also shot a pretty good 82% from the free-throw line. I can see Isaiah Todd being a quality NBA player.

Isaiah Todd is a fun project player who has loads of upside. He is a big forward who is athletic and has a nice-looking jump shot. His biggest issue is his feel for the game and his slim build. He reminds me of Christian Wood as a slim but agile big that can be elite in the pick-and-roll. He just needs time to develop his skills and body to get there.
