START OF TIER 6

Super excited for Thor, and he will probably move up my board. He is a high potential prospect, with a few NBA ready tools that will get him playing time to develop his tools that need more work. He is one of the best anticipatory defenders I have ever seen in the games I have watched. He swallows up balls in the post with blocks and in passing lanes. His jump shot is, while not being the prettiest, has shown nice flashes and he has good touch, so I fully expect it to develop. He showed great flashes of self creation, which on top of him athleticism makes him a super intriguing dude.

Comparison: Kenyon Martin with wiggle

Ceiling: Aminu + Rudy Gay with a splash of Lakers Dwight Floor: Normal Aminu with slightly + athleticism

JT Thor is very similar to Isaiah Todd, just college. He''s a skinny power forward with a nice three, though he''s less consistent in that area. Overshadowed by Sharife Cooper, Thor was having A pretty good season, scoring the ball fairly efficiently. Add bulk, and he should hold up defensively. Also an intriguing target to break into the first round. Nice pull up game and shows some potential as a 3&D stretch four who can protect the rim with lots of length. Has honed his touch and continues to rise up my board. Really a good defender as well, as you may thinking with his shot making and defense he may remind you of a Warriors Durant (VERY Poor man's). Thor's length, upside, and all-around game at this point with improved touch is just too much to pass up.

Projected draft range: 15-35

6''10 with a 7''1 wingspan. Lefty who can hit spot up 3''s. Dribble and attacking not a strength. Stands upright defensively and almost looks clumsy closing out. Hands could be up sooner. Above average shot blocker. Decent rebounder. Could be more coordinated, growing into his body still. Length, mobility, and athleticism are slightly above average. Would love to see him return to school and grow his skill set. Big time project player. Just discovered he was born in 2002, not 2001. I need some enlightenment on how that happens, but bodes as a good thing for his stock.

Tier 8 Floor - out of league Bullseye - rotation Ceiling - high-end rotation, borderline starter

JT Thor is a lefty 6'10 forward with a 7'3 wingspan and moves fluidly like a guard. He doesn't have much of a handle, but he's great at maximizing his strides. He only shot 29% from three this season, but his three point shot looks really good and he shot 75% from the line. Thor will be 18 years old on draft day.

High potential.Hight potential. He is a great athlete with a very pretty 3 point stroke. And a great defender. He will need to add muscle to hang with the bug guys in the league.

Good power forward that can defend well, not perfect, but good and has the potential very good. Has a pretty high floor due to his defense and athleticism, and at best he should be a high level defender that can hit a 3 and maybe do something else well. Pretty good pick for a late FRP IMO.

Positives

-Extreme physical tools, 6'9 with a 7'3 (!!!) wingspan, pretty fast for his size, very solid vertically which pops on some of his blocks, definitely a lob threat early

-Real versatile defender, moves very well laterally for his size and flips his hips quickly, ability to play in all PnR coverages, extremely high upside as a help rim protector, has good timing and does a good job of avoiding fouling most of the time, has some incredible contests and blocks on 3 point closeouts, plays passing lanes well

-Very intriguing shot creation upside at that size, really nice handle at his size, likes the turnaround jumper, has the stepback in his arsenal, he's really good at recognizing angles and attacking closeouts and has the ability to finish, likes the left hook on post ups despite not being very physically dominant

-Definitely has upside as a shooter, fluid mechanics, consistent off movement as well, didn't shoot too well at Auburn but a 74% FT% and other indicators are good signs

Negatives

-Still an inconsistent shooter, only 30% from 3, could move his dip a bit to the left but that's a slight fix

-Really needs to improve as a playmaker and decision maker, wasn't very comfortable with the ball for longer periods, had some problems getting pressured close to the basket or on inbounds passes (???), some really ugly turnovers, didn't really create for others much, mostly a play finisher

-Had some struggles as a finisher at the rim, mostly a problem of lack of weight/strength, did miss some easy ones too, needs a bit more polish here

-Unable to guard more phyiscal inside players right now, struggled guarding guys like Isaiah Jackson in the post, probably not a full time 5 at the next level

Likely range: 15-25

Flashed a little bit of everything, just lacks feel. Very intriguing prospect if the flashes were legit.

RANK

A versatile and switchable defender who has shown flashes on offense, though he’s still a raw passer and shooter.

PLUSES

Explosive leaper who can attack in a straight line off the bounce. In transition, he runs the floor hard to make himself a target for outlets.

Flashes 3-point shooting potential: He showed clean, repeatable mechanics at the NBA combine, and shot 74 percent from the line as a freshman, which offers hope for his jumper.

Superb on-ball defender who moves laterally with guard-like swiftness and can also regularly contest shots with his length.

Athletic off-ball defender who can jump passing lanes for deflections and recover quickly enough to alter or even block spot-up 3s.

Rim-protecting presence with an enormous 7-foot-3 wingspan. He can defend pick-and-rolls by dropping, blitzing, or switching. And when off the ball, he displays great instincts helping inside.

MINUSES

Inconsistent 3-point shooter. Despite some hot streaks, he hasn’t shown dynamic ability coming off screens or pick-and-popping.

Turnover prone. He struggles to execute simple plays and he panics when pressured by defenders. Even if he has time and space to make a read, he telegraphs passes, giving defenders easy chances to pick it off.

Player Comp= Jonathan Isaac, Jaden McDaniels, Al-Farouq Aminu
