"Has elite size for a point guard at 6-foot-7. Controls the game from his unique vantage point with impressive creativity
flair
poise and instincts operating off a live dribble. Gifted ball handler who plays at different speeds and can make every pass with either hand
especially operating out of pick-and-roll. Throws 90-foot outlets
makes magical touch passes."
"Ambidextrous passer with pinpoint accuracy and omnidirectional vision. He sees everything on the court
creating opportunities for teammates that most players simply don’t see or can’t pull off thanks to his innate ability to manipulate defenders."
"Excellent ball handler who uses hesitations to put defenders on skates. He uses advanced moves but always remains in control
dictating the pace like a drummer would a song’s tempo."
"Elite touch. Though he attempts too many floaters and shys away from contact
his ability to score creatively with either hand suggests he could develop into a finisher at the rim."
"Attentive off-ball player who cuts and adjusts to space well behind the arc."
"Great rebounder for his position like his older brother Lonzo. His instincts pop up here when tracking down boards."
"Versatile defender. He’s quick laterally and quite large for a point guard. He has the size to comfortably switch onto wings."
"Gifted playmaker with great court vision"
"Ambidextrous passer and finisher with good touch around the rim"
"High IQ and feel for the game -- knows where teammates are
anticipates where they are going
and can make high-level reads in pick-and-roll situations"
"Tight handle allows him to thrive in leading transition
running offense"
"Good positional size and frame"
"Has struggled to score efficiently throughout his career. Shot just 46% from 2-point range and 25% from 3. Shoots jumpers with unorthodox mechanics
including a two-handed release while kicking out his legs. The touch he shows on floaters and career 82% free throw percentage leaves room for optimism
but his inability to buy a basket at times this season in the half court was discouraging."
"Ball is a great passer
but he can’t be classified as a great playmaker yet because of his decision-making. He jacks up poor shots early in the clock and settles far too often rather than attacking the rim."
"Poor shooting mechanics: He has no consistency with his form
other than his low release. As a solid free throw shooter with good touch on floaters
he has obvious upside. But his form—much like his brother’s—must be overhauled."
"Rarely initiates contact and avoids it around the rim."
"He doesn’t stay in his defensive stance and often keeps his hands down when closing out—or as Mark Jackson would say: “Hand down
man down.”"
"Defensive discipline: He defaults to switching instead of fighting over screens and he falls out of position off-ball when chasing steals."
"Inconsistent and sometimes puzzling shot selection and decision-making"
"Sometimes tries to make the highlight-reel play
as opposed to smart play"
"Low set point on jump shot
and troubling results overseas as deep shooter; mechanically the shot may need tweaked to get shot off consistently at NBA level"
"Shaky defender but potential to turn into a net neutral with expanded physical maturation"

Floor: Flashier Michael Carter-Williams: I expect Lamelo to surpass his floor, but the risk is higher than most lottery picks. A turnover-prone, inefficient, ball-dominant guard and a bad defender that lacks effort. Never develops into a good shooter. Just a starting PG for a few seasons before getting benched.
Likely Peak: 6''7 Jason Williams: A ball-dominant guard who puts up good numbers with little team success. Flashy passer and ball-handler who sets up teammates at a high-level. An okay finisher but struggles through contact. Above-average shooter but very streaky. A pretty good defender but lacks consistent effort. An all-star in his prime.
Ceiling: Penny Hardaway: A ball-dominant guard averaging high numbers on bad efficiency that eventually matures into a better team player. A flashy passer and ball-handler that becomes a great finisher. A good shooter but streaky. Occasionally, a great defender but the effort is inconsistent. Could be an MVP candidate in his prime.
Freakish coordination. Unparalleled OFFENSIVE CREATIVITY & FLASH. Should be a competent shooter, unorthodox form - unwilling to change it? % don''t favor him. Has had a lot media spotlight and criticism, as much as it pains me to say it his father potentially factors into his value. Insane IQ to the point he uses it to sabotage himself at times, particularly on the defensive end. Afraid to get to the cup? Doesn''t shoot many free throws. Will he score inside the arc? Should be a good rebounder. Length and height will be his aid.
Nba Comp: Trae Young Strengths: A physically gifted lead guard prospect with plenty to like in terms of his potential fit into the NBA, as he’s a rangy 6’8 perimeter player with the frame to become even more imposing as he packs on muscle … A wizard with the ball in his hands with elite ball-handling and passing ability … He projects as more of a combo or point guard, but due to his frame he should easily be able to defend some SFs as he gains strength and experience, adding to his intrigue as a prospect … On top of his size, he is also a very coordinated athlete with great body control and agility … A rangy strider, Ball is also capable of playing above the rim; particularly when he has a head of steam, and he has shown the ability to leap off of one or both feet … Has the ability to be a real triple-double threat on a nightly basis, in addition to his scoring and passing potential … Ball also has the size and instincts to be a factor on the glass (nearly 8 RPG in the Australian NBL i
CHI to NYK along with Felicio''s 7.5M exp, for the 8th pick, the 2021 1st via DAL and a 2021 2nd via DET. The Knicks get their big name in Ball and form their own dynamic duo with RJ.
Hands down best player in the draft.
Strengths
Elite passer for such a young age
Elite passing vision as well
Great size for the point guard position
has defensive potential with the right coach
Good at getting to the basket to either score or pass
Lots of experience playing in professional leagues
shown signs of him being an elite shooter
good handles
good court awareness in transition Weaknesses
As of now he does not try on defence as much as he can and when he does he only goes for risky plays
Also a very poor overall defender
Inconsistent from 3
Lacts maturity
shot form needs a bit of work
The concerns about him are as many as his abilities, without consider questions about his work ethic. Too risky pick him higher
Strengths -Playmaking -Scoring -Creativity -Touch -Versatility -Rebounding -IQ
Weaknesses -Shot Selection -Strength -Defense/Effort/Discipline -Sporadic Turnovers -Form Consistency
Projection: Top 4
Player Comp: N/A (Better Shooting Jason Kidd)
Ceiling: All-NBA/MVP Floor: Low-End Starter
Hornets need a star. While he definitely isn''t the most sure thing in this draft, he has a insanely high ceiling that the Hornets won''t pass up on.
Super-star potential. Has a super-star feel to his game. Best passer in the draft by far. Has great highlights and a fun personality, will sell tickets and jerseys. Work-ethic appears to have improved but still questions over it. Serious concern about consistency and jump-shot. Easy to get carried away talking about him based on a few plays. Hard to envision his game translating to All-Star level play, looks to be an inefficient shot-chucker. Lacks defense.
