Mitchell is a dude that I have to scout some more, but I really do like his potential. He’s a big wing that flashed some serious 3 and d upside. His shot needs some more development and its a bit inconsistent at the moment, and I’m a bit considered about his “tweener” aspect on defense, as he’s not quite big enough to be guarding 4s, but im worried about his lateral quickness on smaller wings. However, he should be a prospect that could make something work in the league if the shot works out.

Matt Mitchell this guy gets no credit at all. He''s a 6-6, 245 lb. swingman who can guard 2-4 with an improved outside shot and decent rebounding and playmaking skills. Even when he''s off, he still impacts the game and can be a solid role player in the NBA, ready to contribute to a winning team. He''s older, but he should have a fairly high floor if he gets drafted. Also can post up smaller players, but questionable quickness.

Projected draft range: 55-undrafted

Height 6'6 Wingspan Reported 6'10

Offense

  • Exudes comfortability at all 3 levels, especially on the perimeter and pull-ups.

  • Aesthetically pleasing, fluid athlete.

  • Versatile, and under appreciated P&R ball handler.

  • While he shows flashes of plus passing ability he needs to cut down on silly, out of control turnovers.

  • While a decent shooter, not what I'd call a pure shooter. Room for improvement.

  • Better selection, decision making will make him a more efficient player.

  • 8.2 FTA per 40 last year - aggressive and physical to the cup.

Defense

  • Caught in no mans land too often. IQ and spatial awareness lacking. Close outs can often be too late as a result.

  • Length could be a positive if he'd get in the right position more often.

  • Average rebounder.

Swing Factors

  • Improved defensive engagement, awareness would make him much more formidable on this side of the ball.

  • Shooting consistency. - 3pt% went from 39% to 34% and FT% from 87% to 81%.

Role

  • A wing who scores shooting on the perimeter and pitbulling for shots inside 10-15 feet which leads to some free throw attempts.

  • LOW: In the NBA he is too much of a tweener with no outstanding skills and goes overseas as a wing who is a highly successful scorer at all three levels.

  • HIGH: A rotational wing who gets buckets in a multitude of ways.
