START OF TIER 6

McBride is the biggest riser on my board for sure. He’s got a really solid frame, and uses it super well. He gets to paint super well, and this year started hitting the three. However, my favorite feature of his isn’t his high scoring, but his grittiness. He’s give it his all every possession, making him a great point of attack defender. He really doesn’t have any holes in his game outside of his height (6’2) and his burst. A guy that I really want on my time due to all the intangibles as well.

Comparison: JJ Barea with defense

Ceiling: Kyle Lowry Lite

Floor: Mario Chalmers esque

Miles McBride is a 6-2, 200 lb. guard who can score and facilitate. He has one of the best pull up Js in the draft and has potential to develop into a pick and roll passer who can control the game easily. He should be able to hold his own defensively as well, as he has a solid frame that allows him to guard both positions, and he has a near 6-9 wingspan, which gives him plenty of length. He's an aggressive defender that will set the tone defensively for his team, with a 3.1 steal percentage. Should be likeable by coaches thanks to his hard nosed play and decent all-around game.

Projected draft range: 25-35

6''2 with a 6''4 wingspan. Excellent defender and footspeed with 2 STL per 40. Improving range- 3pt up from 30% to 45% & FT% up from 75 to 82. Playmaking looking better and better while taking great care of the basketball 23% USG, 5.6 AST, 2.1 TO. 43% 2pt is a concern - finishing needs to improve, can settle for bad jumpers, needs to improve shot selection.

McBride tries REALLY hard on the defensive end and really competes there. He is a solid passer and playmaker and an shoot and score well, a good all-around player. His ceiling isn't too high, probably like Patrick Beverly but can score but has a high floor and a high level role player ceiling.

Positives

-Very interesting pull-up shooter, absolutely loved the mid-range (which is his primary scoring area) but got more consistent from 3 as well, has the stepback, the behind the backs, turnarounds, fades, ability to post up weaker guards, almost a wing skillset in a guard's body, showed some flashes of being able to attack the rim off the dribble as well

-Much improved shooter from his freshman season, especially as a catch and shoot threat, high release which is big for his height, 41% on 4 attempts overall with a 81% FT%, should translate

-Solid playmaker, in the PnR uses his scoring to make basic reads, can hit the corner shooters or dump it off to the big, unselfish in transition, potential to be a point guard in the NBA

-A dog defender, moves well laterally and is very high effort, can be really aggressive far away from the basket, can be really disruptive with his length and strength, gets around screens well, off-ball does a good job of denying the ball and makes solid rotations, takes a lot of charges in transition

Negatives

-Settled a bit too much for mid-range jumpers, likes to jump off two feet making shots at the rim harder, needs to take it all the way to the basket a lot more as his shot selection won't be appreciated in the NBA, also should turn some jumpers into 3 pointers, sometimes was hesitant to pull it from 3

-Has some trouble creating separation off the dribble, not the best first step or burst, needs to diversify his shot diet to be less predictable

-Needs to keep improving as PnR playmaker, overall solid but has to get even more comfortable to be a real point guard in the league

-Definitely has limitations defensively, despite his length, he's still only 6'3 at best and he is likely not going to be able to guard more than 2 positions at best, also has moments where he is over aggressive on-ball or off-ball, mostly a discipline thing so shouldn't be a big worry

Likely range: 25-35

Good scoring guard who can create his own space and deceivingly play the post. He is a pretty good athlete too.

Gritty player with a winning mentality and an insatiable appetite for getting stops on defense.

PLUSES

Unselfish playmaker who makes quick decisions in the open floor and has the potential to thrive in a spaced-out pick-and-roll offense.

Comfortable shooter off the bounce with NBA range who can use stepbacks and side steps from any spot. He’s also a knockdown shooter off the catch.

Relentless defender who’s a pest with constant on-ball pressure. It’s like he defends from inside his opponent's jersey.

Offers rim protection from the perimeter because of his elite ability to contain dribble penetration, forcing pull-ups and floaters.

Excellent potential as an off-ball defender. He makes timely rotations and makes an impact despite his lack of size.

MINUSES

Doesn’t create a ton of space off the dribble. He has good-but-not-great ball handling and burst.

Though he’s an explosive leaper in the open floor, he too often plays below the rim on layups and frequently gets blocked or heavily contested.

Player Comp= Jalen Brunson, Jure Holiday, Javon Carter
