In a weird sort of way, kind of similar to Sharife Cooper. He has one NBA skill, his elite shooting. Everything else needs a ton of work. Super skinny and seems like he will be broken at the next level, not a super elite athlete, and is just potential defensively. However the shooting is so good you expect for something to work out somehow.

Nah''shon Hyland is a lot like Jones but thinner. The 6-3, 173 lb. guard has nice shot creating and scoring, and really was efficient at the combine despite the NBA trying the new Wilson ball for next year. Hyland is just one of the best bucket getters in this class and can score against anybody, so don't be concerned about lack of competition at VCU. Shows some superb defensive potential, standing with a 6-3 frame and with long arms, and he may be a nice two-way bucket getter on a contending team. A dude who drained 40 of 44 threes in a private workout is the ultimate scoring and shooting guard.

Projected draft range: 25-40

6''3 with a + wingspan. Takes a whopping 10 3PA per 40, 24/5.5/2.5 with 2.5 STLS per 40, 44/38/88 on 5 FTA and 3.8 TO. Potential gunner from deep, beyond NBA range. Comfortable shooting off the dribble and combo moves. Good vision especially downcourt in transition, needs to continue working on playmaking abilities. Convincing attacker potential- Lengthy and slinky attacking, should be a positive finisher. Long arms allow him to be potentially excellent with closeouts. Willing cutter. Pretty good at reading the passing lanes, long arms help and he keeps them pretty active. Good awareness and the size to be a great defender, do the lateral quicks and defensive stance match?

Positives

-Great 3 point shooter (37% from 3 on 7 attempts, 86% from the line), smooth and quick release, has endless confidence, has incredible range and takes some ridiculously deep ones, will be a threat the moment he passes half court, lethal shooter off the dribble, stepbacks are his go-to move and he can hit them from anywhere

-Really nice handle, loves the between the legs for creating space or blowing by his defender, nice hesitation move that he uses when the opponent is trying to prevent the shot

-Really nuanced as a scorer in the PnR, snakes it well and not afraid to get to the rim despite lack of explosion/strength, has nice touch and is crafty at the cup, probably gonna struggle early on but the upside is there

-Knack for getting into passing lanes and scoring buckets in transition, 2 steals a game mostly leading to layups or pull-up 3s

Negatives

-Not a good defender, doesn't seem to be very laterally quick and his footwork needs work, got really stuck on some screens, has a pretty thin frame so likely won't be an impact defender but he needs to be more engaged, 6'9 wingspan gives him the ability to at least bother some shots

-Struggles with decision making and playmaking for others, has a tendency to get tunnel vision and miss reads when he drives into the paint, rarely looks to create for others, not the most precise passer, shows flashes but likely not a lead ball handler/point guard at the next level, also should work on the shot selection a bit

-Has physical questions like strength/weight and explosiveness, probably won't be a great finisher/defender because of it

Likely Range: 20-30

Good one on one player who can shoot or take you off the dribble and finish including some circus shot moves. Could improve moving the ball quicker not by his quickness, but by the pass more.

Maybe too high but I don''t care. The shot creation and pull-up shooting and overall creation from 3 point range is very very real. Don''t know much oustide of him being a really great shooter.

Fearless scorer with underrated playmaking who can pull up from anywhere, giving him the upside to be a go-to starter or a spark off the bench.

PLUSES

Threat to launch stepback and pull-up 3s off the dribble from Dame territory, or he can spot up to shoot off the catch.

Has a herky-jerky style, mixing in hesitations and change of pace to create space in the midrange.

Crafty interior finisher who uses his long arms to stretch out and flip the ball up to the rim from unusual angles with either hand.

Long wingspan and agility give him defensive upside, as long as his fundamentals and effort improve.

MINUSES

Loose ball handler who needs to tighten his control to become a reliable and consistent shot creator at the next level.

He has blinders on when he has the ball and frequently misses opportunities to pass to open teammates.

Extremely skinny player who avoids contact near the rim on offense and physicality on defense.

Lacks toughness on defense. He rarely stays in his stance when defending man-to-man and won’t go out of his way to help away from the ball.

Player Comp= Immanuel Quickly, poor mans Trae Young
