The core of this trade is the Kings responding to their ownership mandate to get to the playoffs this year. The team as currently constructed realistically doesn't have the guns to overtake the teams in front of them and finish in the top 10 in the West. I'll assume the front office there wants to keep their jobs, so they push a healthy bit of assets to Indy for Sabonis (2022/2024 unprotected 1sts, pick swap in 2023, Halliburton and Beasley. Based on the other offers I'm seeing on the board here, that seems to be in the range if not the high side for Sabonis.

The wrinkle here is if Indy wants to more fully embrace the rebuild and add a player they like (Sexton) who will contribute to winning in the future without adding wins this year. In this case they'd move Halliburton and Duarte to the Cavs for Sexton and the 22 2nds for Houston and San Antonio - which realistically are top 40 picks this year.

Indy still has moves it can make to further add to the war chest, but this seems like a clean way to rebuild without completely blowing up the team.

Cleveland is feeling the effects of its lack of depth, especially thanks to COVID. They need to add another rotation player or 2 to keep pace in the East. Halliburton replaces what we were hoping to get from Sexton this year and Duarte gives us another wing scorer.
