Why each team does this:

Miami Heat- They get their superstar scorer in Kevin Durant. They use Lowry to get a young player and a first to give the nets and a piece to replinsh the bench the heat give to the nets. The signing of Schroder and whiteside help the heat gain bench players to replenish some of what the heat gave up. The signing of Whiteside also gives the heat a little bit of room to trade Dedmon at the deadline for something they might need.

Brooklyn Nets- They get the big haul they are looking for. They get players that can help them compete, young players that help with their semi rebuild, and also get picks to help with their semi rebuild. They also get Powell who they can filp later on down the line for picks. If the lakers dont trade Horton-Tucker by the deadline the nets could trade robinson for him and nunn as the lakers need shooting in their lineup.

Dallas Mavericks- They trade Tim Hardaway Jr.'s contract away and two players that don't fit the Mavs timeline for a Brunson replacement. Lowry brings the Mavericks a leader, a playmaker, and a floor general. This trade also frees up money for the big 2025 offseason.

Houston Rockets- They get a young player who fits their timeline and has all star potential in Tyler Herro. Herro also brings the Rockets the playmaking they have been looking for since drafting Jalen Green. It also makes the decision of extending Porter a little easier. The trade frees up an option for them to look for trades for Porter if they can't get a good return they extend him if they get a good return they trade him.

Okalahoma City Thunder- They recieve a second round pick from the heat to have the 2025 Miami Heat first round pick have no protections on it.
