Nuggets- Denver hasn’t extended Murray yet so this is a prove it year for him. His play in the Olympics for Canada wasn’t encouraging and if that carries over into the season at all then Denver may consider trading him. In return they add great depth with Sexton and Clarkson. Two guys who can score and slot right in at the two guard positions. Sexton replaces Murray and Clarkson replaces the recently departed KCP. This allows Christian Braun to come off the bench along with Westbrook. They also add 2 first round picks which they can use to add more depth to this squad and give Jokic much needed help.

Jazz- Utah and GM Danny Ainge claim they’re trying to build with Lauri as part of the core and extending him was a vote of confidence in that plan. This would be another step in that direction. Getting Lauri a PG who can score and has great playmaking skill. Murray fits the bill on that. They also clear out two players who probably won’t be a part of the future in Sexton and Clarkson. Murray fits the same timeline as Lauri as well and gives Keyonte George and Cody Williams more time to develop while the Jazz push for the playoffs. They also still have Kessler and Collins who they can flip for picks or cash in on another young piece to fit alongside Lauri and Murray.
