Why Bulls do this: Lonzo Ball has been solid but he never plays as he is very injury prone as of late. The Bulls have been a play-in team the last 3 years and were a first round exit 4 years ago. This team seems very lost as of late and they don't look like they have a certain path they want to continue on. They have solid talent in Giddey, White, Vucevic, and Buzelis. Chicago also has a descent amount of depth such as Collins, Ayo, and now Sheppard in this case. Reed Sheppard was the 3rd pick this last year and didn't get much playing time but when he did play he was solid. Dalen Terry has struggled in his young career and looks like a first round bust. They unload 2 ok contracts and get a pick and Sheppard in return.
Why Rockets do this: The Rockets are the 2nd seed and there path in the playoffs looks tough. They would have to play Memphis or Golden State in the first round which is tough enough and that doesn't include Minnesota, Los Angeles, and OKC who is there biggest threat. VanFleet is on an awful deal and he does have a team option that they likely won't pick up. Houston gets a future 1st and they have Phoenix's first this year and they could get a guy like Demin or Newell going young. They get a defensive veteran in Lonzo Ball who is a GREAT defensive player and would be a great mentor.
Why Jazz do this: Utah gets a young prospect in Dalen Terry only for a cost of a second round pick. It is worth the risk as Utah is a rebuilding team and it would give him some time to shine. I guess it give the Jazz more depth at the guard position.
