Blazers
It is clear that they do not have any future plans with Deandre Ayton. After drafting Donovan Clingan with the #7 overall pick, Ayton and Williams' role are on their way to being diminished. In this trade, they dump his contract of 2 year 70 million to the Bulls. In return, they get their 2025 first round pick back, 2 seconds and Carter. Carter is a good competitor, off the bench defender and veteran. He makes 6 million a year compared to Ayton's 34 million/year. They trade 2028
Bulls:
They get a Center, and a good enough young player to add to the young core that they have going whether he is a long-term or short-term piece. Ayton has struggled to find a team or even a concrete role in the NBA. In addition, as the number 1 overall pick, he never got the chance to flourish in any system. Although Bulls aren't that ideal for development, this is still a good step forward for Ayton because he would be a top 3 best players on the team immediately. More touches and more plays ran through him. He can honestly learn a lot from Nikola Vucevic, a great offensive big man in which Ayton is very offense oriented.
