Why the Kings do it: Harris is a a better scorer than Barnes, more suited to a #3 scorer role liked he’d be behind Fox and Sabonis, while still shooting well enough to spread the floor. Thybulle is an absolutely suffocating defender who might benefit from a chance to start with the Kings.

Why the Sixers do it: They shed Harris’s contract for Barnes, who’s better suited as a hot-shooting 4th option. Ross and Holiday expire next year while giving different looks at the wing position to replace the injured Green. Isaac is risky, but if he can play then he can be their new D bulldog; if not, he can be cut after this year with a minimal cost. Holmes becomes a high-end backup for Embiid.

Why the Magic do it: Ross no longer fits the Magic and a high second-rounder is appropriate for him after last year’s poor play. The Magic’s next 1st rounder seems likely to take Issac’s spot, and he’s been out so long that that a new start seems appropriate; a lotto-protected first seems appropriate for him.
