Crazy 4 team blockbuster: Knicks get Murray & Gafford, Wizards get Sims and picks, Hawks get Bertans & Mann, Thunder get Mitch

So this one is a crazy one. I tend to avoid trades with this many teams because they just don't happen due to the complexity involved. But this is a fake trade site so I decided to let loose! There's a possibility that the Hawks would be okay with Robinson if they were to try and move on from Capela but they already signed Okongwu to an extension so I roped in the Thunder.

Knicks: The Knicks get their All-Star. This wouldn't be THE trade but it would be one that should raise their floor and ceiling. Murray is shooting really well from 3 this year and while it might not show on a truly terrible defensive team in the Hawks, he's a solid defender and in the right system (hello Thibs) could be a great one. He adds size at the 2 with his 6'5" height and 6'10" wingspan and could also help run the second unit (although I've loved what I've seen from Deuce). I love Mitch but between his injuries and the lack of development on offense, I'm okay with moving on from him. Ideally, I would like to re-sign Hartenstein as our starting center but Gafford is a solid backup and could potentially be a starter since he's still young and improving. They don't give up a ton of picks because Murray's value is decreasing on this terrible Hawks team (sorry Hawks fans but you're not getting 3 FRPs back). They lose Grimes but if you're adding another guard, he's likely not going to see much playing time and would be better off elsewhere. It does hurt to lose nearly all of their young players but they still have plenty of mid-level salaries to trade and plenty of draft picks to work with.

Wizards: The Wizards are aiming to get picks and young players and this mainly gets them picks. It's not a huge return and they might need more, but Sims is a decent young big who's super cheap and Fournier can be a good locker room presence and he's a team option next season so they could let him go if they don't feel like keeping him. They get their own FRP back which could help them if they want to make any moves (since they traded it away, it restricts their ability to trade their own FRP for several seasons) and a couple of second rounders.

Thunder: The Thunder are an incredible team. They've got a true game changing star in SGA and have so many great young players. They've taken a huge leap and could go far in the playoffs. The only thing that is worrying is the lack of rebounding and they get that in spades with Mitch. He can match up against Jokic and Gobert if they meet in the playoffs and hold his own. He's not an offensive force but he's playoff proven (he dominated Allen and Mobley last year), is young and fits the timeline and is on a great contract which descends. He also can grab offensive rebounds like no one else and get this Thunder team more second chances. The Thunder can part with one FRP and do so here.

Hawks: The Hawks are struggling. Despite reaching the conference finals only a few seasons ago, they don't even look like a Play-In team this season. This trade gets them Bertans (who's mainly here for salary reasons) two first round picks to replace some of the ones they traded away for Murray in the first place. They also get Tre Mann who's shown flashes at PG and is buried in the depth chart on the Thunder. The real prize for them is Grimes. This Hawks team has been terrible on defense and they get a legitimate stopper in Grimes. He's matched up against the best in the NBA and is also a great 3 point shooter who would get good looks from Trae who draws defenses in and is a great passer. It's not the return they might have wanted but they could continue to make other moves (Hunter and Capela look likely to leave as well).
