Predictions for NBA draft. Lmk what you would do differently!
Pelicans/76ers: Pels trade up for VJ Edgecomb who would fit like a glove for this team, great player next to Zion both offensively and defensively if they wish to build around Zion. It sucks to give up Herb Jones but in the long run for New Orleans I think it would be well worth it.
76ers move down to select Khaman Maluach to play alongside Embiid in the short term and be the big man of the future to play alongside Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain over the coming years. They also get Herb Jones to play in the current roster and help them contend for a title within the next few years, as well Jordan Hawkins, a promising young 2 guard who can grow to be a sharpshooter in the NBA.
Nets/Jazz: The Jazz move down 3 spots to select the promising young PG Kasparas Jakucionis from Lithuania. In exchange they get off Lauri Markkanen, and receive Claxton, Johnson, and draft capitol back, as well as the #19th pick in the draft.
The Nets are in deep at the moment, one of the worst franchises in the league with no apparent way to get out. They have to take a chance, and who better to take a chance on than the player with the second-highest potential in the draft... Ace Bailey. His character, inefficiency and tunnel vision on the floor, as well as him not working out with any teams before the draft has led him to drop from a lock at #3. He could be anything, and the perfect team with nothing to lose is the Nets, they can give him the keys to the offence and allow him to grow into the best NBA player he can be.
I believe that if the two teams were to do this deal, then the Jazz would send either Walker Kessler or Nic Claxton to another team, and perhaps trade Johnson to another interested party for more draft capitol.
Clippers/Spurs: The Clippers move into the the last pick of the lottery to select Jerimiah Fears. This would be a dream come true for the clippers, they came into this draft looking to get a young PG and come out with arguably a top 3 PG in this draft class. I understand that people have Fears going a lot higher in the 6-9 range but with the way the pick order is constructed I would not be suprised to see him fall to #14. Jakucionis fits the Jazz's offence perfectly, where I feel they would be comfortable taking him over Fears due to Jakucionis' extreme talent for ball movement and playmaking. The other teams in between the two I feel would draft who I have listed due to fit and position. Fears is one of the most talented scorers in the draft and would be an amazing fit for the Clippers offence. To have James Harden as a mentor for Fears would be a dream come true, you can see real flashes of Harden in his game, as well as his potential in this league to become a star.
