This is a simple line-up of single positional replacements. Easy signs/trades to make the team better.
I've stayed mostly within the teams defensive preference, only adding one liability purely off the upside/age. That liability (for now) being Kenneth Lofton Jr. He's made leaps and bounds to physically match what the NBA is asking of him, but as of right now he has been waived from his 1-year contract and signed to the CBA. With some finangling we could snatch him back to a proper rookie contract. He is the one person available, that I can see, who could develop alongside Thomas, and become a long-time scoring option.
our PF spot, I put Bruno Cabocolo. Whenever I see him I see stellar defence, and a pretty decent middy. An all around solid in-between guy who can keep the gears turning on either side of the court. He's also the closest I could get to Bol Bol without trades... Older? Sure he is. Still worthy of an NBA contract? Damn right he is!
SG RHJ is no stranger to Brooklyn, and at 29 he is at his very prime; it's only down from here. Saying that, he has the Defence we need, & if the overseas stats are anything to go by: he's got the scoring we need too. A simple spot off the bench, just to alleviate some pressure from Cam. That's all. He would fit right in. I also thought about getting Dillon Brooks, to add to the teams toughness: But he's perhaps a bit too expensive, and along with Schroder and Claxton... We'd have to change our name to the Brooklyn Kennels. It's a bit too much for my taste.
PG I put Lonzo, this is the first time in years he's been available, and there in lies a high chance the bulls would want to move him. I'm not saying it's likely. But if we do this, It'd have to be a trade, where we maybe move Cam Johnson (DFS if we can get away with it) and reposition Ben to the SF. He'd still be on minutes restriction. But for a small amount of time we'll have a true PG on the court, who sacrifices nothing offensively or defensively.
And Centre spot? We got Duop Reath. I can not understate this guys eye for defence. On top of that, he's a switchblade on offence when you need him. Now.. I was looking at Portland's active line-up, and I saw they've only played Duop 3.5 minutes a game so far this season. Now if that's not easy pickings, I don't know what is. If we pick up this guy we can transform our bench. Especially if you add him alongside Cabocolo. That height, that scoring, it will transform into something monstrous if it's allowed to run wild long enough; These are the sort of complimentary pieces I think can really change how this team looks competitively.
That's a lot of waiving, and a couple trades, sure. But this is all affordable. And if you're smart you can lock them up for at-least 4 years without any of them faltering talent-wise. (barring injury)
