Brooklyn isn't going to tank because HOU holds their future picks. They get out of potentially the worst contract in the NBA in Ben Simmons (probably a value of 2 to 3 firsts just to dump that salary).

Enter OKC who has cap space to take on Simmons and compensation enough to pry away a budding star in Mikal Bridges to complete their rebuild.

Why Brooklyn does it: They get Kenrich Williams (worth a first at last deadline) who is a do everything glue type role player that would fit nicely along the rest of their very solid roster.

Lu Dort who can lock down most of the NBA at the point of attack and get hot from 3 from time to time. What he lacks offensively, he makes up for defensively.

Poku and Dieng are high upside guys to put alongside Claxton and Thomas. They can grow together while staying competitive with the veterans on roster.

Why OKC does it: It seems like potentially an overpay by OKC but it's what it would take to get Bridges from Brooklyn without giving up any of the core four of SGA, Chet, Giddey, and Jalen "J-Dub" Williams. Ben Simmons is seen as negative value in this deal but if anyone can resurrect a career, it's OKC. This would be his last chance to figure it out.

Essentially, if you consider what Brooklyn doesn't have to give up to get rid of Simmons here, the value for Bridges is:

4-5x Firsts (at least one being in the lottery, although OKC would execute this after picks are drawn). Kenrich (worth at least a first) Lu Dort (High end role guy, could net a first and prob more) 1x lottery pick in Dieng and upside in Poku.
