If warriors deconstruct wolves could swoop in on wiGgins.

SUCCESS

Okay, hear me out.

Warriors go for relief. If they continue losing games they’ll need to seek cap relief, wiGgins seems like the obvious place to go. Not many teams can stomach him in his current form, and starting a relationship with a player asking him to play better in a bigger role rarely goes well. That’s where the Wolves step in. AW can come in a provide substantial minutes at 3, and in small lineups at the 4. The wolves only need for those minutes are backup 3 minutes, and especially having a steady backup to an unsteady Jaden Mcdaniels. Someone to go to when he just has an off night. Allowing AW to build himself up in a complimentary role on a great productive team could also allow his trade value to inflate so that the wolves don’t have to hold onto his contract. His 3/72M could look more manageable for a young team looking for a wing if he’s coming off an important role for a team in a late playoff run. For the wolves, I think it makes sense, and although it handicaps them incredibly with the cap For the future, it also provides a significant step up in a championship run. TBJ gets moved for picks to use elsewhere, either for a situational shooter, or defender, or can stay in the war chest for the future.

For the warriors, this is obviously a move only to be made in the case of all things going wrong over the next 15-20 games and their place in the standings sinking, or even if a multi game injury happens for AW or another top player that could lead to a long losing streak.

The Sixers add a shooting wing who can defend. He’s had some productive minutes. They were a team with an exception that had a shooter, any team in a similar position or two teams that can match cap somehow and have a couple rounds pick value for TBJ could work too. It just didn’t make sense to strand him in the case of a warriors meltdown or take-apart, especially when providing good minutes on a value short term contract.

Obviously won’t happen, but fun thought experiment
