Big men with smooth strokes are few and far between. Williams uses his mobility and sweet stroke to get buckets. He works his way around defenders like a well oiled cog. He uses his oddly beautiful athleticism on defense too. Defense is by far his strong suit. He puts his big body to work on all areas of the court. Rim protection is obviously his strong suit, but he can guard the mid-range too. He has insane stock rates for players of his size. He is averaging over 1 of both blocks and steals. He will be able to anchor down a team by himself. He is a piece that could really bring a second unit together. Jaylin isn’t the type of player who will take over a game, but will be a plus on both sides of the ball. His ceiling isn’t the highest, but he has potential to be a great energy guy off the bench.

I might be a little biased by putting him so high because I'm a big fan of how he plays and a razorback fan. He is a player that has no fear to sacrifice his body as he lead D-1 in charges taken. He can guard the 1-5 positions. He is a great defender in the paint, and he is top notch in perimeter defense. He can knock down shots and hang with the big prospects as he showed by putting Banchero on a poster. He knows when to spot up and shoot and when to attack the pain. Only thing that he could work on is his three point shot and efficiency from the floor.

Player analysis

Jaylin Williams is a gritty center who has such a tenacity when playing especially on defense that it makes up for his lack of natural talent. Williams loves to take charges, he does it to the point where it’s become a signature move and the selling point of his game. Jaylin made a big jump as a sophomore in college and during March Madness was probably the best player for Arkansas which made the elite eight, he uses toughness and IQ to expose NCAA refs into tricky calls on defense. In the league a lot of these calls might be different or open to change for the future which would limit the way he impacts the game a lot, that’s why he’s more of a second round pick despite being a high impact player. Williams has a slower and more methodical game on offense, he scores mainly in the post which is kind of dead in the league but I wouldn’t say it’s a big enough pillar to make him useless or anything close to that. I like his IQ a lot and I see him being a very good team defender that can make a big impact on that end of the floor as a rookie, although he does get calls he is still a good defender without them. His passing is solid and could make him nice as a team playmaker but his passing game most likely won’t shine with the ball not being in his hands nearly as much as it was in college. Jaylin could be a nice backup center that plays hard and is quality on both ends of the floor, I see him as an immediate positive that playoff teams will try to draft early in the second round.

A player you just have to watch to really appreciate. Jaylin Williams is a player who has the heart of a champion. Defensively, as a 6'10 center, he has a knack for altering shots, intimidating drivers to the paint, and puts his body on the line by successfully drawing charges (watch Auburn game). His help defense is also impressive for his size, as well as his rebounding. His offensive statistics during his time at Arkansas is notably not impressive. He does, however, have great shot form and improving touch for me to believe that he can be a scoring threat on all three levels. As good as his potential offensive outlook is, he is still years away and needs around 2-3 years to reach a comfortable offensive ability. He also has some good vision. If he has the ball at the top of the key and an off-ball defender has his eyes on him, he will fire the pass at the defender's man. He has an overall good feel of the game, not because of his current strengths, but because of his smarts and heart. Jaylin Williams has the heart of the champion, and is a player that will do anything to win.

generational charge taker. great big passer. some potential as a shooter. really good at the little things as a big man (screening, rebounding, short roll passing). however, it's the big thing that he struggles with: finishing. he lacks explosiveness and touch at the rim, limiting his finishing significantly. despite that, he's a winning player that can carve out a great role on a winning team, i don't see him being a starting C caliber player though. think of him as a xavier tillman type player.

Jaylin is the modern NBA center. He has the poetential to be a stretch big he kind of already is. He has a godd mid range but not really a 3 point shot. Score in low post and inside well and attacks rim well. The defense is inconsistent with the rim prptection isnt great and neither is the one on one defense. An underated prospect that I like alot.
