Jordan Miller has emerged as a big impact wing for Miami this past season. He’s an intelligent player that makes the right plays and keeps his poise and big moments. His role at the next level should be very similar to what he does now because he has a very translatable style of play. Offensively, he makes confident movements while off the ball. His ability to get open for smooth cuts to the rim and effectively finish makes him a constant threat. He swoops in for extra plays on the ball like second-chance attempts and tip-ins. Despite being a nice athlete, he prefers to use his finesse when scoring inside. He has a very wide arsenal of moves at the basket that can trip up almost any defender that’s put on him. Defenders will have to watch him heavily in the league because I expect his driving to only be amplified when placed next to better playmakers and facilitators. If he does get stopped in the midrange he can release a spray of head-on jumpers and fadeaways that have become what he is most well known for in the last year. This isn’t a shot strategy that a lot of coaches encourage, especially with role players, but it’s another move in his bag that he can pivot to if he’s forced into a tough situation. He isn’t the most consistent shooter from behind the arc but he found his footing to be a capable outlet option his senior year. I think he might end up being a bit streaky but he’s shown the positive progression over time to become serviceable. He shot well from the free throw line so I believe in the shooting form long term. He does a lot of the small things that can keep a player in a game even if their shot isn’t falling so some three-point inefficiencies aren’t something I’m holding over him heavily. He moves the ball around very unselfishly and he’s a guy I would classify as an anti-ball hog because he doesn’t need a ton of touches to produce an offensive impact. He isn’t a great initiator but he’s a player I like as a connective piece for a team. One of his go-to skills at the next level will be how gritty he is as a rebounder and defender. He dives for loose balls in the hopes that he can create a turnover and isn’t afraid to get rough on a play. On defense, he is very hard-nosed and is constantly attacking at the ball. He has the length to poke at his matchup in one on one and in movement which is what makes him a deadly perimeter assignment. He’s like glue in how he powers through screens to stick to his man despite having a lankier frame. A majority of his time came from covering off the ball which is something he’s very good at but it didn’t allow him to generate many high defensive metrics so his numbers might be a little deceiving when you try to look at how effective he really is as a defender. He’s the kind of player that playoff rosters would love to plug in because he’s such a low-maintenance guy that can do a lot. I think that there isn’t really a path for him to get involved as an on-ball option in an offense because of his weak handle but his baseline foundation is so strong that I don’t mind the limitations that his game might have. It’s very clear that he’s going to act as a role player which is what you’re really hoping for when drafting in the middle to late second round.

Jordan Miller- Miami (SF) Age: 23.4yrs 6’7 202 (Josh Okogie)

Miller is an excellent and willing defender who can guard players smaller than him and has to often guard and battle with players bigger than him down low. Miller loves to crash the offensive boards flying in from the perimeter to get his team extra possessions. Miller is an okay self creator in the mid range area and can stretch his shot out to the three point line at times but needs improvement. Miller is a team first player and will do the dirty work for any team.

PROFILE: (By Sports Illustrated) "After playing five seasons at the college level, Miller will look to make the jump to the NBA. Leading up to this point, he spent three seasons at George Mason followed by two at Miami. He earned an All-ACC Team nod last season in what was his best college campaign that concluded with a deep push in the NCAA Tournament. As a prospect, Miller’s position is interesting. He’s 6-foot-7 and played quite a bit of guard at Miami, but might be better served as a wing in the NBA. He’s much better off-ball given he’s not a great self-creator, but can absolutely produce points in a secondary role. The swingman is highly effective inside the arc, converting on 62% of his 2-point attempts the past two seasons. He’s a really good slasher that can finish in traffic, through contact, and utilizes his size. He saw a year-over-year increase in his role, making the most of it and rising to the occasion. Miller showed that he has the vision, feel, and IQ to set other teammates up as a tertiary playmaker. The swing skill is his jumper. It’s encouraging that he improved from deep last season, but it was on fairly low volume and he tends to pass up open looks from time to time. Miller is a solid rebounder that has no problem leading the break. Those are traits that should translate well in the NBA as teams look to play fast and push in transition. He’s also an underrated passer, producing nearly three assists per game and notching five contests with at least five assists last season. Defensively, Miller brings a lot to the table. He’s extremely versatile and can legitimately hold his own against four positions. Outside of centers, he’s proven that he is effective guarding both on the perimeter and in the paint against all other positions. He’s also great within a scheme and is a good team defender. Miller consistently makes the right rotations, in the help when needed, and it’s evident he pays attention to the scouting report on the opposing team. A late riser due to his performance in the postseason, it’s no guarantee that Miller gets drafted. However, he’s showcased his versatility and seamless fit at the next level well enough to at least get consideration in the pre-draft process."

Energy guy who makes winning plays, Miller influences the game with defense, slashing and cutting. He has to develop a better shoot but the left-handed guy showed enough during the Final Four Miami's run that he can help any team on a specific role.
