Edwards projects as a glue guy at the next level. Probably should never have the ball in his hands in and ISO, and will never gain that capability, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. He can guard 3-4, and some small ball 5s, and has a shooting stroke for sure. Not elite athleticism, but will carve a role due to his size, wingspan, and shooting.

Comparison: Yuta Wantanabe

Ceiling: Dallas Shawn Marion ++ Floor: Old man Richard Jefferson

Kessler Edwards is a 6-8 wing who can defend a few positions and projects as a 3&D Wing. He''s always been consistent from behind the arc and has the size and agility to defend NBA wings. He''ll be a nice spot up shooter who can rebound and defend a few bigs with his size, although they have to be shooting bigs such as Brook Lopez. Edwards has a nice approach and should be a stretch four with enough shot creating to get buckets. Has a nice approach to the game as well, is great in the way he goes on about his business, as some coaches in the WCC have commented.

Projected draft range: 30-50

6''8 with a 7''0 wingspan? C&S knockdown, 85% FT supports it this year. 47/38/85 splits show scoring upside. 20 points per 40. Enough length to be an average or better rebounder. 1.3 BLK & 1.3 STL per 40. Fairly athletic dunker. Nice little pull up game off dribble from mid range and inside ten displays nice touch. While he''s comfortable shooting off dribble and occasionally attacking, he does not possess any advanced dribbling moves and moves primarily north-south. Solid instincts rim protecting and can guard the perimeter a little bit as well as he moves fluidly in his hips. He plays vertically when contesting. A potential two-way threat with some intriguing intricacies to his game.

Positives

-Great shooter off the catch, unorthodox but consistent and fairly quick mechanics, very solid off movement/screens as well

-Good defender, that can potentially guard 2-4 in the league, thin but not weak, great help defender that also shows flashes of help-side rim protection, glimpses of good perimeter defense

-Competent driver, can drive in a straight line and has a spinning move counter, uses his length well and finishes at a well above average rate, can catch and finish close to he basket

Negatives

-Problems shooting off the dribble and not only from 3, weird mechanics don't translate well here, shot comes out a bit flat and his gather isn't good, big swing area for him

-Don't like his footwork on closeouts, can get blown by a bit too easily by quicker guards, has shown flashes but very inconsistent

-Handle and first step aren't great, probably not a creator, has some problems with ball security, just little things that limit his ceiling

Likely range: 25-45

Solid athlete, good lift, but slow with the ball, doesn''t utilize his length as much as he could. Confident pull up shooter, with some touch, but results are iffy. Has shown some rim protection ability as a 4, and has quick hands in the passing lanes. Might be better off playing the 4 in todays NBA.
