Why Detroit accepts:
Robert Williams has shown signs of brilliance in the last few years and would be a great fit with Cade and the Pistons’ squad. Detroit part ways with players that just aren’t working for them in James Wiseman and Killian Hayes. They both had decently sized expiring contracts as well so DET would much rather trade them and get something back rather than waive one of them in FA
Why Portland accepts:
The Trailblazers have had Timelord sitting on the bench for 2 months injured and it would be worth taking a chance on 2 young guys. James Wiseman and Killian Hayes have had two very underprivileged careers and are waiting to get a big opportunity. We get off of Matisse’s bad contract to clear cap for FA.
Detroit only give up a first because James Wiseman and Killian Hayes have decently sized exp contracts. If they were multi-year deals it would probably be 2 future second-rounders.
