Why do the Mavericks do this? ———————————————————————— The Mavericks are in desperate need of wing and bigman depth. Their lacking a true facilitator and playmaker outside of their 3 guards. Their also not the best defensive team so Gordon also helps with that. The addition of Mason Plumlee helps with their lack of bigman depth and he is also a very underrated playmaker at his position. Losing Tim hardaway will take a blow on the offense but gaining Buddy Hield is an excellent replacement Hardaway’s 3 Point shooting perhaps even better?? Gordon Heyward is in his early 30s and is only going to get worse as Lamelo gets better. Its clear Mason Plumlee is not the Center the Hornets want to keep long term. Myles Turner is an excellent replacement as he can play paint Defense (Which the Hornets are a bottom tier team at!) and he can stretch the floor out for miles bridges and get another option for Lamelo to pass the ball too. Tim Hardaway fits perfectly in this fast paced offense with his ability to shoot off the dribble. Him lamelo and Bridges will provide an electrifying fast break offense that gives lamelo the option to kick it out to an elite catch and shoot player. Jalen Smith has been emerging as their Center of the future but Isiah Jackson is still a hit or miss. PJ washington gives Tyrese Haliburton more options to pass to. Especially with Haliburtons drive and kick it out style of play. They dont even have a young SF at the moment so getting an young elite 3 and D SF would be a steal for them. Josh Green has already shown flashes and adds more depth at SF for them. The addition of a first round picks adds to their rebuild. Getting rid of their two best veteran players also does them service by not letting them rot but it also helps them tank for better draft picks.
