Why Pistons

When the Pistons release Fournier that's another 20 million off of the books. The Pistons will have a ton of cap space to work with and build a good competitive team around Cade. He'd have a surefire co-star in Jimmy Butler who just really knows how to win and compete. Pistons should then pursue Hartstein or Nick Claxton as a replacement to Duren amongst other candidates. Then they should pursue other free agents like maybe Miles Bridges or a follow up trade with New York trading Isaiah Stewart and #15 for Julius Randle. Resigning Fontecchio would also be a priority but do it to go over the tax.

Imagine Cade/Butler/Fontecchio/Randle or Bridges/Claxton! That would be a major turn around for the Pistons to start winning some games.

WHY HEAT

This isn't to start a rebuild but rather yet to build around Bam. With the new set of young players and picks they could easily be in the Lauri Markanen market amongst other players. They'd have two picks to add two serviceable young players. They'd also have a ton of cap space. This would just be a set up to restructure their team and continue to compete. Both Ivey and Giddey could be moved for an even more surefire guard like Trae Young. Getting Caleb Martin under a new contract would be a priority but this would be a great way to move on from Butler and Herro if they feel like they just can't get them over the hump.
