Why Mavericks do this: Luka Doncic is a top 3 player in the NBA as of this moment. He wasn't injured and just led his team to the finals. However we have dumb brain Nico Harrison who was born with brain damage decided to trade Luka for AD and Max Christie... yeah that's it. The Mavs also get a future DPOY in Dyson Daniels who is amazing and they also get nice young future in Herbert Jones and Trey Murphy. Brandon Ingram an all-star is also headed to the Mavs in the deal. The Mavs also get more than 1 pick in the deal plus they still get Quentin Grimes in the offseason. They get rid of a bad contract in Tim Hardaway Jr. at the time as well. This would be much much better for the Mavericks.

Why Pelicans do this: The Pelicans get Luka... yeah one of the best and you can consider him the best player of the league when healthy. He gets to team up with Zion and McCollum. They also still have Valanciunas and they get PJ Washington as a part of the deal. They keep Jordan Hawkins and still have some solid depth. They get Josh Green to improve there bench unit as well. They have guys like Cody Zeller and clear up money for free agency. Doncic is far more valuable than any of the players they're giving up. Don't forget the Pelicans we're the 8th seed and were a very solid team.

Why Pistons do this: The Pistons get Tim Hardaway like they did in real life plus a second round pick. However in this universe they get an all-time 2K player in Jaden Hardy. This gives Detroit depth and they use some of the unnecessary cap space that Detroit has.
