Why Mavs do this: Isiah Stewart has been amazing for Detroit and Tobias is a great scorer. Dallas also gets rookie Bobi Klintman and good depth to add to what they have already. They also get 4 2nd round picks and they can get off AD's HUGE contract just to be a 50 game per year type guy. AD has only played 1 game with Dallas and is getting up there in age. Dallas doesn't look like a contender anytime soon since the Luka trade. They move forward and can choose many directions to go in. They can use those picks plus some of the depth to get a star player to pair with Kyrie.
Mavs Notes: The Mavs practically traded Luka for Max Christie, Tobias Harris, Isiah Stewart, Bobi Klintman, 1 future 1st, and 4 future 2nds.
PG: Kyrie Irving SG: Max Christie SF: PJ Washington PF: Tobias Harris C: Daniel Gafford... this includes players like Derrick Lively, Klay Thompson, and Isiah Stewart off the bench.
Why Pistons do this: GET CADE HELP! The Pistons are currently sitting at the 6th seed and look like a splash away from being legit contenders. AD is still very dominant and Stewart other than being the heart of this team just causes trouble and is a liability on the offensive end. Tobias has 1 year on his contract after this year and is almost making a whopping 30 Million per year. Don't get me wrong Tobias and Isiah Stewart are great players but AD even at his age is at a whole other level. One concern for this trade for Detroit is it effects team chemistry. Cade however gets the all-star he has wanted and has a dynamic front court in Duren and AD.
Pistons Notes: The Pistons are currently sitting at 40-32 and they reached 40 wins for the first time in 6 years meaning they are making big steps after going 14-68 last year. Cade Cunningham has also just made his first all-star game.
PG: Cunningham SG: Ivey (When Healthy) SF: Thompson PF: Davis C: Duren 🔥👀... Beasley, THJ, Ron Holland, Dennis Schroder, and they still have a decent chunk of salary cap. _
