Trade 1:
Trae Young, AJ Griffin
for
Keldon Johnson, Malaki Branham (accept team option), Zach Collins (new extension worth 17m/year), TOR 2024 FRP (if doesn’t convey, becomes TOR 2025 FRP), ATL 2025 FRP unprotected, two unprotected 2025 SRPs
Why?:
Hawks - Need to break up core. Getting a starting forward, young guard, versatile backup big. Draft picks provide value without depleting all talent
Spurs - Trae Young. Unlocks offense, easy to hide on defense behind generational shot blocking and perimeter D of Vassell, Sochan, Champagnie, Wesley.
-
Trade 2:
Clint Capela, De’Andre Hunter
Ziaire Williams, Brandon Clarke, Luke Kennard, MEM 2026 FRP lottery protected
Why?:
Hawks - Easy yes. Replacing minutes with younger talent and more shooting. The draft capital is helpful as well.
Grizzlies - Absolutely need experienced help at center. Capela is a slight upgrade over Clarke, but this deal is for De’Andre Hunter to play the starting SF role that is wide open. Brings versatility.
