Thunder send 2nd least valuable of 2024 1st's (OKC/LAC/HOU/UTA) for a 2028 DAL pick swap. They also send Bertans/Micic/Mann and 2 2nds for Gordon Hayward. Putting OKC's roster at 13 active players. This move may not have been about obtaining Gordon Hayward, but more about creating cap flexibility next season.

Next season (2024-2025), with Hayward/Pokusevski expiring, OKC will have an active player CAP of $99,793,927 if they accept all Team Options, deadcap of $1,000,000, for a total CAP of $100,793,927 on 11 players. As long as picks convey, they will have the Rockets and Jazz 1st's (currently projected at #10 and #13). This would give OKC 2 additional roster spots beyond the 2 draft picks, and up to $48,829,173 (if the CAP increases the full 10%) minus the draft pick salaries ($7-10m). This is a lot of CAP space, almost a max player salary, so it will be interesting to see what OKC does with it.
