The Hawks have been solid this season but they need some more pieces to be true championship contenders. They need more defense next to Trae, and more proven pieces, instead of young guys. I think everything they do here fits that great.
Trade 1: PG Kris Dunn to the Toronto Raptors for a 2021 2nd round pick
The Raptors could use a backup point guard if they lose Lowry, and feel Flynn is not ready. Dunn offers good finishing, playmaking, and pesky defense. They give up a small value for a guy who could play 15-18 minutes a game.
Trade 2: Trade SF Cam Reddish and a 2nd round pick to the Mavericks for SG Josh Richardson
The Hawks spent a high pick on Reddish, and he still could be good, but he doesn’t really fit the timeline. Richardson is having a down year offensively but is still an elite defender. The Mavs take a chance on Reddish as he has exactly what they covet in project wings: athleticism, 3pt shooting and defense.
Trade 3: Sign and Trade PF John Collins to the Spurs for Luka Samanic and a 2023 Lottery protected 1st that become top 5 protected in 2024, and unprotected in 2025
The Hawks hit on the Collins pick but in their eyes, he’s not worth a max. They get a nice developmental big in Samanic and a solid 1st round pick. The Spurs get their low post threat they have coveted.
Trade 4: SG Kevin Huerter, the 20th pick, and 3 2nds for pick 9 from Orlando via Chicago
The Hawks want to move up with some capital. They move up and can get a real solid prospect with that pick. The Magic could get their SG of the future, 3 2nds, and move down in the 1st.
Sign Otto Porter Jr to a 2 year, 11 million dollar contract
