Well, I guess anyone can have a change of Heart, perhaps even Lillard and Cronin.
There were rumors before the draft of the Pelicans looking to move up and draft Scoot Henderson. Not really sure what became of those but why not? The Pelicans do have a really promising young wing in Trey Murphy the III and if there is one team weakness its been the lack of a true PG along with Zion's health that has held them back.
This would be a pretty big role reversal so just (SMILE) and think of the possibility.
The Blazers ship Scoot Henderson to the Pelicans for Brandon Ingram and Valanciunas. They have to great the skids with two future firsts (two years after the pick has conveyed to Chicago) which seems more likely (playoffs) with Ingram and Valanciunas along with Cole Anthony and Alvarado.
The Magic eat that god aweful Nurkic contract for the next 3 years. They also ship out Jalen Suggs and Cole Anthony to the Jazz and Blazers respectively. The Jazz ship the Minnesota 2025 unprotected pick to the Magic who also get prized and previously untouchable Sophomore Shaedon Sharpe who looks like a shooter. The Magic still have Fultz and Black so this maybe a little light for them but it depends on the grade for Sharpe they have.
The Pelicans land their man in Scoot Henderson and add a pair of 1st rounders and a 2nd from the Trailblazers. That also simply sets them up better under cap relief. I'm not sure they can really afford 3 max or near max deals and keep going. Zion - Ingram - McCollum all on deals seems like its going to break their bank and spacing out the careers maybe a better option. They get picks for adding Val and solving that dreadful Blazers cap issue.
For their part the Jazz get a Suggs and Ant Simmons backcourt to pair with their big front court. They give up Kelly Olynyk and no one who will be missed, while sending the Magic the 2025 pick of the Timberwolves, and pick swapping the Magic against the Lakers 2027 pick (Top 4 Protected) if it conveys. (That's the Magic's pick versus the Lakers pick in 2027 if it moves). That still leaves the Jazz with plenty of draft ammo and a rather interesting backcourt.
I call this things that make you go hmmmmmm......
