I am going to be rebuilding a random NBA team every day (if I can/feel like it). I am going to use a wheel of every NBA team that will pick a random one.
If you like post your version of the rebuild, and I’ll flame/like/ and comment on it for fun.
OTHER RULES FOR THIS: I will ignore recently traded/recently signed, but I will keep everything within the financial rules.
I will try to get their picks back if they don’t have them, but I’m not gonna go completely out of the way if it makes zero sense.
If a team is already rebuilding, then I might just trade their best player event though they wouldn’t (EX: Cade)
Obviously, most of these teams aren’t gonna ng to explode their team, but it’s for thought experiment/theorizing how the new teams would look.
ANALYSIS OF TRADES:
Brunson to Spurs: very easy, although they just drafted Castle, they can get a true younger star to pair with Wemby. Maybe they won’t contend next year, but the years after they’ll be studs.
Mikal to Heat: The Knicks trade Mikal for a young Tyler Herro, Jovic, and Picks. Mikal is able to do two things for the Heat that Herro didn’t do: stay healthy and play defense. He can easily help this team contend, and if it doesn’t work out on Jimmy Butler’s timeline, Mikal fits perfectly on Bam’s timeline for the future.
Randle and Robinson to the Pelicans: Mitchell Robinson makes sense, a true big man that can play solid defense, get boards, and work in the paint. It’s exactly what they need. On top of that Randle replaces Brandon Ingram as that supplemental scorer with decent defending. It will truly complete the Pels’ contending team.
OG to the Warriors: this is the one I was most Iffy on, but OG is a huge upgrade from Wiggins. He’s able to play great defense, catch lobs, and catch and shoot the three ball. I’m not sure if it will make them champions again but it’ll make sure the warriors make the playoffs.
