Aka the trade of the three Tr(ae/e/ey)s. Good one.

They know they're mid unless they can tank and control their own future. They give the Spurs a solid trade package for their own firsts back, with Trae and a protected Kings 1st. Trae fits in as their PG of the future, even with CP3, who backs him up and still is a great vet to lead the developing squad. Castle switches to a wing, and Pop kicks Trae into gear playing a decent style of basketball. The Spurs probably don't do this - especially after the CP3 signing.

They deal Larry Nance to the Kings for Trey Lyles, Jalen McDaniels (and then waive him) and two 2nds. Larry is the perfect fit with or without Domas on the floor, as a defensive stretch 4 or a small-ball backup 5.

They then deal Bogie, Tre Jones, and Trey Lyles to the Lakers for Max Lewis and unprotected Lakers pick swaps in 2026 and 2028. They take back the bad contracts of Gabe Vincent and salary in Christian Wood, who they waive. These players fit the Lakers well - Tre as a defensive minded floor general, Bogie as a 6th man shooter who can start at the 2, and Trey who is basically older Rui Hachimura.

Lastly, the take a swing on Zach LaVine for his talent and pedigree and the pick the Bulls throw them. He'll run the show and ideally rebuild his value - they're not competing anytime soon so the salary shouldn't matter much, and he fits well enough with their young players. The Bulls take on the expiring salaries of Clint Capela and DLo. They probably buy both players out or waive them.

Low key, they'd have a legit fun young core with this and can actually add to it with top lottery picks as they continue the rebuild.
