Note I am well aware that the current rumors surrounding Wiggins suggest that the Warriors would like to use his contract to get a replacement for Klay (Markkanen and Lavine have both been suggested). With that said, let’s be honest, the Warriors don’t have enough assets to get Markkanen and the Bulls would be foolish to sell Lavine for “pennies on the dollar.” This trade is a realistic option for the Warriors to try and improve their roster. Onto the main post.

For Golden State: it’s reported that they want off of Wiggins contract. This trade accomplishes that and helps with other issues. The starting SG position can easily be filled with sharp-shooter Max Strus. In addition to that, Kuminga can finally start at SF full time. On top of all of that, the Warriors are getting a competent bench PF in Georges Niang who is a career 40% shooter. Niang also brings a similar intensity to Draymond and would likely bring that energy off the bench. Overall, this is not a “home run” for …

This one goes out to Cavs and Heat fans. How do you guys feel about this potential trade? Personally (as a Cavs fan myself) I’m not sure I would be too excited to get an aging Jimmy Butler who’s best days are probably behind him. That said, maybe he would be better suited in a role on this Cavs team as the 2nd or 3rd option on offense (contingent on Mobley’s development). I feel like that Heat would have to include at least 1 if not the 2 picks I have suggested in order to balance things out a bit (and yes they should probably be protected more than what my trade has suggested).

I think this is a solid deal for Heat fans, but I don’t really know how you guys are feeling about this whole situation. If Butler doesn’t get an extension, are you all okay with losing him for nothing the way LAC lost PG13, or would you be okay dumping his big salary for a young, all-star caliber PG and a solid role player in Niang? To follow that question up, are the picks too much to ask for?

Overall…

Note Yes I know the Spurs just picked up CP3, but that doesn’t mean they still won’t go after DG. That said, I do think the most realistic thing for Cleveland at the moment is for them to just run it back with their new coach and make moves at, or around the deadline. That gives them time to see what they have and try to boost the value of players they may trade. With that out of the way, here’s the details:

The trade is quite simple. The Spurs get a guy they like to grow along side Wemby and the Cavs get valuable picks and two solid role players to play along side Mitchell. It reminds me of the situation the Kings had when both Halliburton and Fox were on the roster. Cleveland has two guards that are great on their own, but don’t work well together….

Let’s break down the needs of each piece involved. Cleveland is reportedly going to trade DG and JA and plans to resign Donovan Mitchell to the Supermax. They plan on the future of the team being centered around Mitchell and Mobley. Their biggest need? Depth at C and wings who can shoot and defend. They also could use a secondary play maker assuming Mobley remains the third option on offense (the team may try to develop him into their second scorer).

New Orleans needs two things this offseason: 1) a C who can coexist with Zion on offense and protect the rim on defense. 2) a PG to distribute the ball to Zion and share the scoring load with him as well. San Antonio needs one thing above all else… they desperately need a PG to distribute the ball to Wemby and share the scoring load as well. They have also been linked to DG. Reports state they would be more interested in his services than Trae Young. Lastly, Brooklyn. It’s time for them to properly rebuild. Mikal Bridges is a g…

NOTE I don’t foresee Milwaukee blowing things up this offseason, both Dame and Giannis were hurt for the playoffs, but if they do, this is the type of haul I would expect them to get (honestly they may be able to get more). With that said, let’s get to the teams.

Starting with Milwaukee, let’s play devil’s advocate and say Giannis decides he wants to play somewhere else. Maybe Cleveland would do what they did with the Mitchell trade and swoop in from out of no where. DG and JA both reportedly have extremely high value on this offseason’s trade market. They could easily combine the assets they get to go grab a guy like Giannis.

Onto San Antonio, they reportedly want to trade for DG more than they do Trae Young at this point so this trade package makes perfect sense. Maybe they would opt to keep one of picks 4 or 8, but this draft class is pretty weak so they may not. In either case, they have a plethora of picks to choose from.

As far as New Orleans is concerned, they need to a…

NOTE This trade assumes the Cavs keep their 2024 1st and use it to draft Bronny James, therefore signing LeBron to the MLE. Also I forgot to include the three picks NO is sending to the Nets as compensation for the trade. NO should be sending Brooklyn a 2024, 2025 and 2026 1st.

This is an updated version of my last trade (see that trade here: https://fanspo.com/nba/s/cavaliers/trades/gwLtmFau5GHhSp/cavs-pels-nets-3-team-deal), where the Cavs, Nets and Pels make a three team deal to move assets around in order to make all three teams better (the Nets get better by adding two young pieces and three 1st round draft picks).

In this scenario, the Cavs already know LeBron will sign with them if they draft Bronny, so they use their 2024 1st in order to make that happen. The biggest difference between this trade and my other proposal is the inclusion of Larry Jr. and Max Strus. The Cavs are getting Larry Jr. to come off the bench and the Pels are getting Strus to either: A) start at SG (…

To start, this is just the framework for a three team deal, the picks can be debated, but the players make sense (for the most part). With that out of the way, let’s discuss each team.

Starting with Cleveland. Per Shams, Cleveland is likely to resign Mitchell to a supermax and trade both JA and DG. What do they need in return? A starting Wing and PF. They’re getting that here. Bridges would start at the 3 and BI at the 4. As far as Cleveland is concerned, this trade is pretty straightforward. Trade DG and Allen for Bridges and BI and resign Okoro. My guess is Cleveland would look to move Strus and maybe Niang in a separate trade to clear up cap space to resign both BI and Mobley the following offseason. Their starting 5 would consist of Mitchell, Strus, Bridges, BI and Mobley.

This also leaves the door wide open for the team to draft Bronny James with their 2024 1st and sign LeBron to the MLE. In that case, they would start: Spida, Bridges, BI, Bron and Mobley. Cleveland …

Cleveland needs better shooting and scoring from their wings as well as a bench PG. They’re getting all of that and more (2 firsts and 2 seconds) for DG and JA (both who are on the move this offseason). I’d expect BI to play PF for Cleveland (which is a much better fit for his play style), Johnson would start at SF, Strus at SG and Mitchell at PG. Devonte would be a fine addition to Cleveland’s deep bench.

NOP needs a real C to play alongside Zion. Jarrett has made it work with Mobley for years so there shouldn’t be any issues there. The Pels have a plethora of picks and CJs contract to address the PG position as well (maybe Dejonte or Trae could be an option).

SAS needs a PG to play alongside Wemby and to feed him the ball. DG is a more than capable scorer and a great passer of the basketball. San Antonio would gladly add him to their young roster….

Everyone should know by now that Cleveland is likely trading Allen and DG this offseason, this trade sees both going out west to two different teams for players and picks that will help Mitchell win now.

To start, Allen is going to Golden State to give Steph some help down low. What they do with Draymond, Lord only knows. My guess, they’re stuck with him. This trade does allow them to resign Klay to a team friendly contract and move Kuminga to SF. It also helps them move off of Wigs who has regressed for some odd reason (supposedly he has a ton of issues in his personal life atm).

For Portland, they’re landing a PG that is on the same timeline as their rebuilding young core and they’re dumping what could be seen as a bad contract in J. Grant. Yes this is costing them one 1st, but I think it’s a price they would be willing to pay. DG has a very similar skill set to Dame, so he should fit right in there in Portland.

According to fanspro, Cleveland is projected to be substantiall…

Per all of my other recent posts, Cleveland is trading DG and Allen this offseason (see a full breakdown as to why linked below). This trade sees them following. Through with that and landing Bridges Claxton and Finney-Smith.

Brooklyn does this trade to land two, young, all-star caliber players to build around (one in Allen who they are familiar with and may have seller’s remorse for trading away). Their current roster clearly isn’t working and Bridges clearly isn’t a #1 option. He’s also 28 and not exactly on a rebuilding timeline. DG and Allen on the otherhand, they’re 25 and 26 respectively. Brooklyn can use their plethora or picks to build around the two young guns they’re getting in this deal.

Cleveland is landing a new staring C in Claxton who will fit in the locker room. A real SF in Bridges (who can easily be the #2 option on offense) and a solid bench guy in DFS.

What do you guys think? Lmk below!…

Per my other posts (linked below) all reports out of Cleveland show that DG and Allen are out and Mitchell is resigning. With that in mind, Cleveland has to trade both DG and Allen.

For Phoenix, this makes perfect sense (as far as basketball is concerned). They need a PG (desperately) and could use a C considering Nurkic can walk in free agency. What doesn’t work here (and I’m fully willing to admit it) is Booker is likely untouchable. He’s the homegrown talent and a fan favorite. It’s far more likely that the Suns move KD and/or Beal this offseason. That said, as far as basketball is concerned, this trade makes sense to me. Phoenix gets two, young, all-star caliber players, they move Beal to the 2, KD to the 3 and can sign a 4 (and let Nurkic walk).

KD is likely untradeable due to his value being lower than when the Suns traded for him and Beal is untradeable due to his no-trade-clause. That leaves Booker as the only guy they can move. If he became available, the Suns would…

Per the Shams article, DG and Jarrett are likely getting traded this offseason. To who and for what is yet to be determined. Here’s a scenario that may land Cleveland LeBron via trade.

As far as I see it, if LeBron wants to finish his career where it all started (which is currently being heavily reported), then he has two options. 1) request a trade to Cleveland as a courtesy to LA so they can recoup some assets upon his departure. 2) Decline his $51 million player option and sign in Cleveland for the MLE (leaving Cleveland with a much stronger roster that is more likely to win a championship). If LeBron cares about his legacy, he’ll opt for option no. 2. However, if he cares more about his salary. He will request a trade instead.

One other note it’s safe to assume if LeBron is returning to Cleveland that the Cavs will use their 2024 1st to draft his son so he can play his final season with Bronny.

As far as the trade is concerned. LA is getting two, young, all-star caliber …

Cleveland needs to move off of Allen and DG this offseason and the Magic need a better big man, more playmaking and more shooting. This trade solves both issues for both teams.

There are a ton of reports coming out of Cleveland at the moment. To start, as all Cavs fans already know, Mitchell is happy here. He never wanted to leave. The media wanted him in a big market. His latest quote proves it “I am happy in Cleveland, I have been happy since the day I arrived.” Two other reports have come out. One states that Cavaliers teammates are extremely unhappy with Jarrett Allen refusing treatment for his bruised ribs that would have allowed him to come back and play game 3. Another states that DG will request a trade if/when Donovan signs an extension (this makes sense as DG always plays better without Spida on the floor). With all of that in mind, Cleveland is likely to move both DG and Allen this offseason.

Similar reports have come out of Orlando regarding Franz. After losing g…

Starting with Orlando. Franz is and always has been an awkward fit along side Paolo. I’d assume the Wagner brothers would be a package deal (but I could be wrong there). Orlando needs more playmaking and shooting alongside Banchero.

Cleveland needs to dump Allen and DG this offseason and they need a tea SF so Strus can play the SG.

This trade fixes the shooting issues for Orlando and their playmaking woes as well. It also allows Cleveland to get a real SF, move Spida to the PG and Strus to the 2 and it gives them some depth at C for the upcoming Allen trade. Does this make sense? I think so. What do you all think?…

Cleveland should have traded Allen to begin with (in the Mitchell trade). Here we see them getting things right by swapping Allen and this year’s first for Markkanen.

Utah does this because Jarrett is almost as valuable as Markkanen and they’re getting a free first out of it.

Cleveland makes the move because Jarrett has to go after the latest news (the locker room isn’t happy with him) and because Markkanen is a much better fit along side Mobley….

Jarrett Allen is Charmin Ultra Soft and he proved it again this playoff series against Boston. Reports have come out that his teammates are frustrated that he refused treatment for his bruised ribs that could have had him on the court helping his team. As far as I’m concerned, the dude should be gone this offseason. New Orleans seems like the perfect trade partner. They have CJ at the point and it isn’t quite working and BI at the 3 which also doesn’t quite work. On Cleveland’s end of things, they need Allen out of that locker room and DG has never really fit along side Mitchell.

For Cleveland, they would move Mitchell to the point, play CJ at the 2, Strus at the 3, BI at the 4, and Mobley at the 5. They can use their two 2024 1sts to address depth at the big man position. A bonus for Cleveland with this trade is of LeBron comes back on the MLE (if they draft Bronny) he can play the 4, BI can play the 3 and Strus can come off the bench.

On New Orleans end of things, they’re ge…

This is by no means even remotely realistic, but I’m a Cavs fan so let me have my fun. If the Mavs lose to the Thunder, maybe Kyrie could become available? Here we see Cleveland trading Jarrett Allen and DG for Kyrie and Gafford. They would go on to draft Bronny James with their 2024 1st. Sign LeBron to the Mid Level and sign K. Love to the vets minimum.

Cleveland’s starting 5 would be Kyrie, Donovan, Strus, LeBron and Mobley with bench help from LeVert, Okoro, Niang, Dean Wade, K Love and Gafford. Talk about a great offseason.

It honestly might be realistic for Cleveland to draft Bronny, sign LeBron to the mid level and sign Love to the vets minimum. But let’s be honest, Kyrie found a place to stay in Dallas….

I’ve built a few Mitchell to the Pels trades lately and I think this is the best one. The Cavs get young and open up salary to allow for both a BI and Mobley extension. The Pels shake their roster up to build a super team around Zion and the Jazz continue to collect assets in their rebuild. CJ is an expiring contract that the Jazz would most likely trade to another team and Niang is a valuable roll player they can also seek to flip.

Cleveland’s starting 5 would be massive and would do a great job hiding DG on defense: DG, Trey, BI, Mobley, Allen.

NO’s starting 5 would contend with the best of the best: Mitchell, Strus, Herb, Zion and Markkanen….

This trade goes to show what Cleveland and New Orleans can do to improve their rosters after my last proposed trade. It’s simply a proof of concept to show that there are indeed deals out there to open up Cleveland’s salary cap and their would be suitors for CJ’s contract if NO decided they didn’t want Mitchell and CJ on the same roster. That original trade can be viewed here: https://fanspo.com/nba/s/cavaliers/trades/C0hAILd-Kt2ky1/cleveland-goes-young-new-orleans-gets-superstar-to-help-zion

A few more points on NO. Their starting 5 would be Mitchell, Strus, Herb, Zion and Markkanen. They would finally have that stretch 5 they so desperately need. They’re cool with trading Nance here as Jonas would now fill his role off the bench. This trade makes the Pels real title contenders.

As I said in my last trade, if Cleveland traded for BI, they would want the cap space to resign him and Mobley. This trade allows them to do just that. They would have the best young team in the East…

As I wrote about in my Knicks/Cavs Mitchell trade, Cleveland traded an all-star (Lauri Markkanen), a 6th man (Collin Sexton), two first round pick swaps and four first round picks to the Jazz for Mitchell. Everyone should expect them to get similar compensation in return if they’re trading him away. BI’s value couldn’t be lower right now, but he is a former all-star. Trey Murphy is an extremely interesting young wing that can help Cleveland both now and in the future and the three firsts are more than fair for a guy of Mitchell’s talent level.

As far as New Orleans is concerned, they still have a plethora of picks and CJ’s contract. I would fully expect them to make another move in order to round out this roster. As far as Cleveland is concerned. My guess is they would prioritize resigning Mobley and moving off of Strus and Niang as those two no longer fit their timeline. This would open up enough salary to resign BI to a long term deal. Cleveland would have the best young tea…
