I think probably not. although I do think Portland could get competitive for a couple years. I think my Chicago and NO trades are weak. the Bucks would have to really want their draft rights back and like scoot as a rebuilding piece.
Portland does it because there are enough guys on the team to be really competitive for a championship with Dame and Giannis for the next 4 years. Simons, Sharpe, Rupert, Avdija, Camara, Clingan, RW3, and Reath support the two stars, is that better than what the Bucks are currently doing for those stars? not sure.
the Bucks Get Scoot and 5 firsts including some of their own back and get three of their own swaps back. they probably can move grant to LA for a pick and matching salary. downside they have to eat a few bad contracts over the next two years, but they would have big expiring contracts to trade next year as second apron teams start to feel the new reality. they also don't have their 2025 pick.
I don't think this is enough to get the Pelicans to make this trade, I'm still thinking of how to improve this part of the trade. one of the things NO gets is the Bucks getting much worse and keeping the bucks 2025 pick. if that has value to NO there could be something here. they also get off CJ's contract, that should be a plus. and they find center help and a huge guard that just had a 20-pint fourth quarter, he could be a good 6th man for them. still don't think it's enough to get the Pels to move.
I don't know if two young decent prospects are enough to get Chicago off of the Portland pick, that who knows when it will actually convey, but it's what I have right now.
this is a thought exercise to think about if Portland would be a suiter in the Giannis trade sweepstakes. I think they come in with an offer mainly to come out as a third or fourth team facilitator of the trade. Giannis doesn't come to Portland.
