Spurs land Jimmy and Fox!

Spurs have to give up DV but they quite quickly move into a win now team. Miami gets happy getting Keldon Johnson in a package in a return from Jimmy. Sac gets 2 FRPs (most like two second from the Charlotte protection) so 1FRp and 2 SRPs but can build around a new cornerstone in DV….

Dallas gets their wing defender they need without giving up any major players and their FRP.

Lakers get needed depth for basically a 2RP.

Detroit adds another rotation piece for a 2RP.

Blazers get the FRP they are looking for for Grant and get three seconds as well in a loaded draft class….

Why each team does this trade.

Lakers: LA keeps on talking about being one or two pieces away. Bringing in Jimmy shores up the lakers defense and gives them a proven guy to make their championship push. Giving up Rui is tough, but Jimmy plays bigger than his position.

Miami: The Heat try and recoup some assets in this trade. They get to stay competitive by bringing in Tobias Harris, bring back Gabe who use to play for the heat, and take a swing on Max Christie as a prospect. They also get 1 unprotect FRP when the Lakers will be bad and three second round picks for the upcoming draft that is mega deep, including Toronto's 2nd round pick which is basically a late FRP.

Detroit: In my opinion, I think the Pistons are the real winner here. They get Rui who is arguably better than Tobias Harris and more on the Cade-Ivey timeline, JV who would be a strong defensive presence, and a prospect in JHS. This is a big win….

Here we have my preferred Blazer off-season plan.

Trade Simons: Anfernee Simons is a Blazer favorite, but for the development of Scoot and Sharpe, and he has high value right now, you need to move on begrudgingly. Magic can offer the most realistic package, they have the need for a guard you can score, create, play off the ball, and Simons is from Orlando, so it is a nice homecoming for him. Magic give up Black and two protected FRPs to land him.

Orlando Receives: Anfernee Simons Blazers Receives: Anthony Black, 2025 Den Top 5 Protected FRP, 2026 Orl Top 5 Protected FRP.

Trade Brogdon: Malcolm was maybe worth a FRP last year, but now, he has lost value. Houston prioritizes veterans still and they are in need of a back up PG. Brogdon was 6th man over the year under Ime in Boston. This is a natural fit. Blazers get Jock who is on a team friendly contract and can be moved this year if needed. Instead of Portland getting a future first, they move up 4 spots to get the guy they want (Cl…

I feel like this trade works out for all teams, except I don't know who should be giving up picks and who should be receiving them. Thoughts?…

Minnesota focuses on getting under the luxury tax while staying competitive and arguably get better.

Minnesota lands Jerami Grant, Dennis Schroeder, and a FRP for Kat that gives the Timberwolves a more balanced starting five and more depth at the PG position (Monte Morris isn't even playing right now). The are 10 mill under the luxury tax with this move so can bring back Kyle Anderson as well if needed.

Brooklyn has none of their own picks so they need to start winning now. They resign Claxton and bring in KAT and Brogdon to have a veteran presence and a real point guard. They can have a starting lineup of Brogdon, Cam Thomas, Mikal, KAT, and Claxton. They will have enough money left over to resign their guys or go out in Free Agency.

Blazers flip their veterans for Cam Johnson and get a look at Dariq Whitehead. This trade fits the Blazers timeline much better and they land 2 FRPs for their troubles.

Detrott improves their roster with bringing in DFS for Fournier to add defense a…

Stars find new homes and make GMs happy in the process.

Cleveland's New Starting Lineup

PG: Donovan SG: LaVine SF: Okoro (instead of Strus for defense) PF: Ingram C: Mobley

Bench: Strus, Niang, Dean Wade

Cleveland goes full offense and relies on star power with a big three of Donovan, LaVine, and Ingram to create a potent big three with Okoro and Mobley being defensive anchors. They become quite weak off the bench but they still have money to spend in FA and can bring in a strong FA. They also land an unprotected FRP in the process.

Chicago's New Starting Lineup

PG: Lonzo SG: Coby SF: DeMar PF: Pat Williams C: Vucevic

Bench: Caris, Caruso, Ayo, Zach Collins

Chicago moves on from LaVine and resigns DeMar and Pat Williams in the process. In return they get strong bench pieces in Caris and Collins which make them now have a formidable NBA rotation, which they have been lacking the last couple of years. Depth will really support this team throughout an 82 game season. They also…

All teams stay below the tax and increase their projected win totals!!!

Portland decides to try and win and brings in LaVine, Ingram, and Patrick Williams while giving up Brogdon, Ayton, and some draft assets. They roll with a starting five of Simons, LaVine, Ingram, Pat Williams, and Rob Williams. This is a good mix of defense and stellar offense. They also have Scoot and Sharpe coming off the bench.

Chicago saves some face with the LaVine deal by nabbing Jerami Grant and Deandre Ayton while also giving up Vucevic. They resign Demar. They also get to change portlands protected first that they own into an unprotected pick.

Houston gets an Udoku favorite in Brogdon which shores up their back up point guard situation and brings maturity to the team. They only need to give up Tate, Lockdale, and a couple of second rounders for the hassle.

Pelicans have been shopping Ingram and in return they get Vucevic, Thybulle, Lockdale, and a protected first and a second rounder. This may be a lit…

There are a lot of moving parts here so instead of giving a breakdown for each team, I will share the overall picture here of why this makes sense, even though it will be close to impossible to pull off.

Portland, Spurs, and Nets stay under the tax while the Spurs still have 30 mill (possibly more) to sign a free agent to go with the new additions of CP3 and PG13. Portland gets tons of draft picks in return for all of their veteran talent (selling high). Nets try and win now as they don't have any of their draft picks for the next few years. Warriors and Clippers both avoid the second apron. Warriors get to keep all of their young talent, except Moody, and land Grant, Claxton, and Thybulle which will undoubtedly make them better over the next two years as they go for another championship. Clippers aren't willing to pay PG13 so they move him for a ton of depth pieces which will keep them in the hunt in the western conference.

Feel free to ask away. The Clippers and Warriors are both a…

Warriors go all in to compete for two more seasons by trading for LaVine and Caruso. They have to give up two young assets in Podz and Moody while also giving up Chris Paul and a first round pick. They also get to resign Klay Thompson for two years on a decent contract. In this process, they also duck under the second apron while keeping their big 3 which they have said they want to do.

Chicago saves face in trading LaVine and getting a first round pick and what hurts is giving up fan favorite Caruso but they get good young talent to replace him. They also resign DeRozan and stay competitive in the East.

Spurs bring in competency to help with Wemby and get CP3 to man the PG position and start building a decent team. They still have cap space to sign a big fish to bolster their lineup and they give up no assets in the process….

Portland decides to tank for another year and gives up all of their veteran talent to pick up three first round picks. This gives Monty a chance to coach a team with some actual talent which Detroit is desperate to do while giving up no actual players of value, just picks….
