San Antonio, winning the lottery, and generational 7 footers.. what a win for the Spurs organization. Not that they "deserved" any more luck given their illustrious history already, but I think anyone with a reasonably functioning brain can agree that of the top options for Wemby to land, San Antonio is easily the best in terms of giving the best odds to guarantee he reaches his mythical potential. Whether Pop is reinvigorated and decides to stick around now is still up in the air, but regardless, the future is bright down in San Antonio. This roster has some very exciting young pieces highlighted by Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan. Obviously Wemby is about as versatile and unique of a prospect that we have ever seen. He will add a level of dynamic offensive ability that this roster desperately needed. Defensively, he will be a shot blocking menace and him and Sochan will quickly form one of the most formidable and versatile defensive front courts in the NBA. The most underrated aspect of this to me is that they have a ton of cap space and could all of the sudden be in play for a big name free agent that compliments what they will now have in a young core. Get ready for another decade or more of San Antonio relevance.
